I’ve been ordering from little philly’s around twice a week, food has always been good. As of recently, due to theft a lot of restaurants have to check your phone to confirm you’re the right person before getting the food - completely understandable, if I was a business owner I would not want to be losing money. The thing is, the business owner and the rest of the staff are actually great and the business runs smooth. They care about the food, which is great.
As I was just picking up my order this Sunday, the lady at the cashier asked to see my phone, I went and retrieved my phone from my car to prove I was the one ordering the food (even though I’m a regular here and have ordered countless times) the lady seemed to be extra rude while asking for my phone order confirmation, pretty demanding and pretty entitled sounding, so I asked her if she recognized me and if she knew that I bought food here about two or three times a week every week.. not only do I not care to steal a $10 sandwich which I can obviously afford since I choose to eat at Little Phillies multiple times a week. But She told me she didn’t recognize me, everyone has different memory and brain capabilities, but considering I always come in at off-times during the day, and I literally order about twice a week. She told me she only works on sundays, apparently I picked the wrong day to order my food!
She told me that they need to see the DoorDash app before giving me my food. I then went to go get my phone from my car. I also used to work DoorDash, which I made a point to the lady about saying that I wouldn’t steal and that also I eat here multiple times a week, and that I also understand how DoorDash works - she decided to be smart and tell me “I’m glad you know how DoorDash works” as I was walking out of the restaurant after having to explain to her that I eat there all the time and that I don’t care to steal a $10 sandwich. I was super surprised because I love the food here and have never had an issue with any of the staff or anything, I said “excuse me?” And then she smiles and repeats herself , doubling down “I’m glad you know how DoorDash works” with a huge smile on her face. I actually was taken back, considering how good this place has been and how nice the staff always are, but whoever that older lady is working the cashier on sundays, she needs to be retrained and taught how to be a cashier and how to talk to customers properly!
A customer who is simply questioning why they have to run back to their car and get their phone at a restaurant that they order from regularly, is just a customer asking a pretty normal question. I love the food at this place, and so do my friends, but unfortunately I’ll have to find another restaurant around here that can make a good cheesesteak! If you want food from here, don’t question the Cashier that works on Sundays, if you do, don’t be surprised because I...
Read moreAugust 2023. It is back to the way it was!!! Fantastic, delicious food!! The original owner has come back 4 days a week and is working with the newest owners (who came on 4 months ago). The newest owners used to own Riccos Pizza in Hampton so they know how to run a successful business and can cook. The original owner is helping them bring back and make the faves that Poquoson and surrounding area loved before it was first sold. Chicken philly is spot on yummy! The two hot dog meal (Nathan's hot dogs) was enjoyed by my hubby, as was the freshly made, not frozen, flat top hamburger on the first visit back. The french fries are absolutely yummy! One of the prior owners took out the fountain drinks (bummer! They now have bottled sodas instead) And chose to install a very expensive water filtration system so cups of water taste crazy fresh!! Pricing is fair too. Two of us have eaten for around $20 each time. Give Little Philly's in Poquoson another chance if you havent been in a year or 2, like us. Two fantastic lunches there by my husband and I this month, and we plan to keep...
Read moreWe visited Little Philly's on Monday, May 9th, after my son's baseball game, and after finding that our other 4 or so choices for dinner were closed on Mondays.
I've got to be honest, when I walked in I wasn't hopeful. It's a very small restaurant, without much atmosphere. Or at least not the type of atmosphere that I typically enjoy. It is a very mom and pop type place.
I ordered the Gyro with fries. It was very very good, and it was well put together. Which is very important when eating a Gyro. In fact I'll say that it was the easiest and cleanest Gyro I've ever eaten. Gyro's can usually be quite messy, but they had it wrapped perfectly. The tzatziki sauce was delicious, and while the meat was very very good, it wasn't the best Gyro meat ever, but it was still very good.
The fries were also really really good, and really really crispy.
This place definitely deserved a 5 star rating. My only real issue with Little Philly's was that they didn't have a soda fountain, so their soda is served in cans, and I presume did not come with...
