Tonight my husband and I went to El Rancho. A few minutes after we were seated our waiter came to our table. I started to ask him a question and he said "Wait a minute" and he walked away. I've never had that happen before at any restaurant. When he came back, I asked if the Margarita's were from a mix or fresh made and he said they were from a mix. I prefer fresh as it's really not that hard to make a fresh margarita. I then ordered dinner of Enchilada Poblano's with chicken. Halfway through my dinner, I bit down on something hard only to find it was a chicken bone. I've posted a picture of the bone below. I told the waiter and he initially didn't say anything, he just walked away from our table. He came back about 10 minutes later and asked if I wanted another dinner and I said I really didn't want anything else. He just said "Okay" and again walked away. A few minutes later he brought our check and charged us the full amount. It would have been nice to at least get an apology and since we had awful service and no apology, we reflected that in his tip and won't...
Read moreWhen you first walk into El Rancho, it has the typical Mexican decorative flare, with bright colors and walls textured to look like stucco. Depending on the day of the week and time you arrive, you may have to wait, but it's never for very long. (Don't even try to get into the parking lot on the evening of the Poquoson Christmas parade!) Seating is somewhat comfortable. The tables and backs of the booths are painted with beautiful scenes. The chips and salsa are wonderful, but most of the time I have to ask for the white salsa. The wait staff is very friendly, but whatever you need, you should ask for when you order your meal because you may not see the wait staff again for a while. I'm one of those people who likes having both rice and beans, but here you have to order one or the other with your meal. The food is somewhat bland compared to other area restaurants. The fajitas need a bit more flavor. And as far as pricing goes, it's probably just above average for a Mexican restaurant. I don't know how good their alcoholic beverages are because I've...
Read moreWe had eaten at the Mexican restaurant In Poquoson many times prior to today and enjoyed it. Decor is o.k. Cost is good. Today was a total disaster. The owner was rude. The waitress was over worked with far too many people to wait on. I asked three times for a refill on my drink. Finally I had to carry my glass to the owner and he did not apologize for the wait. I asked for chips and he said they were an extra 2.75, which I had never had to pay for before. No one came to check on us from the time we arrived, except to bring the check. The owner never asked when we paid if we were o.k with the service, nothing.. He was not what you would expect from someone who wanted you to return.I asked one waiter why they had changed the taco salad shells . He didnt understand me. l. I dont know what has happened .. The food was not as good as it used to be either. The shells for the taco salad were like shoe leather. I could not and would not recommend this place to...
