Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Poquoson

I’ve been going to this location for years mostly for its convenience being that it has a drive thru. I’ve had some bad experiences that weren’t handled very professionally and good experiences only because the gentlemen that works most days knows me at this point and makes conversation. I do not believe the owners value their customers needs if at any point they would lose money in the process. I’ve had smoothies made completely wrong and was not offered to be made a new/correct one and I’ve had some that weren’t blended well and couldn’t finish in fear of chipping a tooth on the frozen nuts that weren’t blended well enough. I now see that when you pay using a debit/credit card, they use some sort of device to extend the card reader out and the default option is to tip them. It was my first time not using the app and the employee stated to, “Just hit Green to approve” instead of explaining how to toggle down to NOT leave a tip. It is my understanding that a tip is not mandatory but to not explain it to the customers in hopes they miss it and leave a 15% worth of their purchase is mind boggling to me. The worst part is how you are treated after they realize you haven’t left a tip too. I will probably think twice before continuing to spend my money here as I feel very taken advantage of without ever feeling like the owners care...

I've been here a few times and I suppose the only reason I have gone back is out of convenience. Today however will be my very last time. The smoothies are subpar to say the very least. Today I ordered a wrap, for the very first time ever I was asked if I wanted extra chicken, now I see why and this is not exaggerated I literally had 3 small cubed pieces of chicken in my entire wrap.. This was the final straw. I NEVER WISH any bad on any company especially small business owners but I will be glad when this place closes down and it's only a matter of time.

I will happily drive to the Tropical smoothie a couple miles further to avoid this place yourself the favor and avoid...

Owners are terrible they are rude, rasist, and disrespect employees and customers. I even heard their son say all black people do is complain!!!conditions are filthy they do not follow any health regualtions and mishandle food therefore it is unsafe to eat. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY!!! Also they own port warwick tropical smoothie and conditions are just as bad there. So unless you want spoiled food with plastic and hair in it served by jerks...
