The Whale Tea Hidenwood — Restaurant in Poquoson

Formerly “Kung Fu Tea” location in Hidenwood. Noticed the flags hanging today signifying that they were open for business. Yes 🙌🏼 The revamp and name change is very clean. The facility looks amazing 🤩 Upon entering, there was a line almost out the door to both, pick up orders and place orders. I was given the impression that orders must be self placed as no one was at the register and there was a self service screen. Deducted one star ⭐️ The self order touch screen did not work properly. I tried to pick several different drinks to place my order and nothing worked. I became frustrated when I learned that the register was in fact open and people who had walked in after me were serviced. After a few minutes, I was over it and decided to leave without a purchase in hand (bummer). Worth mentioning; Deducted a second ⭐️ Drink options were not what I had hoped for coconut milk offerings.

I walked in to pick up an order & the tall lady looked at me and said nothing. The second short lady at the register asked stern “How can I help you” as if I was bothering them. When two other people walked in. It was of excitement and joy. I didn’t have that experience at all. I took it as a race the way I was treated was because of the color of my skin. I wont be back ever.

Update - This update is to the owners response. This is the right place I was at. At times I do doordash & pick up orders to help people out who cannot drive & get my steps in! I provide honest reviews on every business I visit whether I am shopping for myself or someone else. This was my first time here & I thought maybe one day I can check it out. After entering I declined.

Didn’t want to leave the house so I decided to Uber Eats some boba and macaroons, which thankfully didn’t take too long because I would’ve been sad if my boba got watered down, but that’s kind of the risk you take getting drinks and stuff delivered, anyways overall, I very much enjoyed my drink, I got a large Matcha Fresh Milk Tea with Almond Milk with a 100% sugar level and with Tapioca Boba, which 10/10 would definitely get again. Now the macaroons they were good as well but they were too tiny for the price, plus they did forget one of my orders of macaroons, so that made me a little upset but other than that is was definitely great and I will most likely be back for the boba but 50/50 if I’ll be ordering macaroons again. (Also side note minus forgetting half of my order of macaroons, I did appreciate how everything was carefully packaged and placed inside...
