Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Port Arthur

The service was friendly, the food was good. I used to come here when I lived in the area about 10 years ago. It was a very beautiful place that was well maintained. The Hibachi grill was spotless and the bathrooms very nice and clean. The food was much better back then. Today it's not even close to the same place. I'm so glad I didn't use the restroom before eating, or else it would have ruined my appetite. Scum around the sink/backsplash, gang graffiti scrolled on the walls above the urinals. Really nasty. It has to have been many many months that they have not really cleaned the restroom well. The food was still pretty decent. And the Chef was very friendly. Our waiter was great as well, for this reason alone I am giving 2 stars. I noticed some employees walking around dressed in what looked like street cloths. I could only tell they were workers because they were cleaning up the tables, sagging jeans and just unclean appearance. Graffiti on the exterior that I didn't notice before entering but did when leaving. Also a dirty diaper in the middle of the first parking spot outside the front door. The state of the place is a direct result of poor management and leadership. Really hope they improve. As I can't eat there knowing how dirty they keep the places the customer can see, I can only imagine how horrible it must be away from...

I don't know where to begin. The hostess had about as much personality as a sponge. My server was a tad more personable... Like a wet sponge. The place smelled like burnt on food on the grill. Maybe the vents suck...or don't suck I guess. The menu was sticky...like Velcro sticky. I ordered the OMG Roll and Shrimp/ Vegetable tempura. The roll had "spicy crab salad on top" I have no idea where the crab was in this supposed mix, but the color was this vibrant pink. Picture a melted Easter peep mixed with pink highlighter and pink crayon shavings. It tasted like old wasabi. The tuna on it was clearly old and had a slimy film on it. The tempura was super soggy. The broccoli was essentially raw and the grease filled the florets so it was super gross. The sauce that came with it was like water and just blah. I was in town for work. Most certainly won't eat here again.

I will say that the white trash gentleman cussing out his wife while their obnoxious children were louder than a jet engine was hilarious to watch. He had the same server as me and he treated him worse than his wife.

-Update- 30 minutes after finishing I found myself struck by violent Hershey squirts. Lord release me from Satan's grip...

Wow. I normally rave about this place but tonight was way below acceptable. The guy cooking barely spoke to us which has never happened before. The sushi was great but the hibachi food was not as good as it usually is. Now to the service. The service was terrible. I had to stop the guy as he was walking away to order mine. We had six people in our group and only one drink was refilled and we were there for almost an hour and a half. We had to wait almost twenty minutes after we had finished eating for our check with our drinks empty still. We put a credit card in the folder immediately but had to wait at least fifteen minutes for the guy to return to pick it up to run the card. Wish I would have had cash so we could have just left. We watched a table that was seated after we had ordered pay and leave before us. I would be more understanding if they were busy but this just was not the case tonight. The only really positive was the sushi was great. I really hope this was just a fluke because we do enjoy this place...
