It's a little dark inside when you come in from a sunny day, especially with my transition glasses. Because there are candles on the tables and lots of dark woods and such in the decor. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We got a good table and I asked about ciders they might carry, and they had a brand I did not know, in the apple/rose` type and she brought a Free small taste and I ordered it. Was a flavor combination of wine and apples, not Woodchuck (favorite) but wasn't bad.
We both decided on a sandwich basket with "chips" and they were those super crunchy potato chips which Joann likes and we ordered a side of fries too. I got a perfectly good Reuben with mustard and Jo got a "Big city" burger which she said was great too.
They brought around a real dessert tray and explained what each was. I chose the bread pudding because it didn't sound super heavy which wasn't heavy at all.
WAS THE BEST DAMN BREAD PUDDING I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! Joann agreed. The pudding itself was just the right amount of custard to bread ratio for it to truly have a real pudding texture. We noticed that they make their own bread and use brioche buns for burgers so that could explain the excellent bread pudding. It was topped with a warm butter rum sauce (next time I will request "EXTRA" it was THAT GOOD and candied pecans that were also good and not candied to a rock hard texture. They had a light sweet coating with a back flavor of cinnamon. Not overwhelming. A small amount of real whipped cream too. I passed on that but was seriously considering licking the small bowl afterwards. Luckily, our server took it away before I followed through on that. There other desserts looked good too but I see why they still do the tray of desserts because it's easier to say yes after hearing them described. I told Joann, that next time, "I want my own dessert so I don't have to share." I promise to take pictures too.
The prices are about what I would expect for Port Clinton. The dessert alone was $8 but it was worth it. I believe we both ate, with an actual drink for me and we spent below $50. It was definitely worth going. We will return. You should too.
