First time coming here because reviews said it was really good but that was totally not the case. Ordered a berry lemonade and the whole bottom of the cup was full of nothing but sugar so every sip was straight sugar. Then the chips and salsa finally came out, said they had to make fresh, and they were chewy and tasted like burnt fryer grease and the salsa was like a thin pizza sauce with a ton of lime and cilantro flavor nothing else. They were not busy at all arrived 815 pm and didn't get our food for almost an hour. Ordered chicken tostada, chorizo taco salad and steak burrito. The tostada and the shell on taco salad was brown and tasted like dirty grease like the chips. The chicken had no flavor. The chorizo in the taco salad was burnt yet uncooked at the same time and the cilantro lime rice was not cooked and flavorless. The steak burrito was greasy and flavorless as well. Didn't eat any of it. The waitress was super sweet, she had just started working there had only been there for 2 hours and she was embarrassed about how bad everything was along with the service. Waitress brought water refills in new cups and we noticed the table was getting wet. Here the cup had 2 huge cracks in the side and was leaking everywhere. The waitress said she was going to go get the manager and a lady came out never introduced herself and said "I heard there was discrepancies over here" told her everything and recommended they check their fryer oil and the lady said "I'll take 40% off your bill " mind you we didn't eat 98% of the meal. Definitely do not recommend...
Read moreThe space at Riverside Cantina is undeniably cool — great ambiance, stylish décor, and a generally inviting atmosphere. The food was solid too — fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired and really overshadowed the positives.
When we walked in, we stood at the host stand for a few minutes without being acknowledged — despite four employees being clearly visible and only about ten people in the restaurant (one table and a few people at the bar). Eventually, unsure of what to do, we approached the bar. After another minute, someone finally acknowledged us and told us to seat ourselves.
Once seated, our waiter spent about five minutes sitting at the bar flirting with a coworker before bringing us chips and menus — then promptly disappeared. Another ten minutes went by before we could even order drinks and food. He went and sat at the bar for 5 minutes before bringing over waters. Throughout the visit, it seemed like the server was more invested in messing with the TV and chatting with his coworker than actually taking care of his only table. We never even got napkins.
It was a very odd and disappointing experience. While the space and food have potential, the lack of basic hospitality really made it hard to...
Read moreMy husband and I have lived in the area 10+ years and we have always intended to go to Mr. Ed’s, so today we went for dinner. It was a rainy Saturday, so it was not very busy but it still had a decent crowd. Our server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. When she returned she asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a bit more time, that turned into at least 30 minutes or so. We ordered an appetizer of the cheeseburger egg rolls and my husband ordered the Reuben sandwich with the house chips and I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. The appetizer was good, my husband who loves Reubens thought it was marginal based on the fact that the meat was dry and jerky-like, the bread was thick and not enough sauerkraut and they use 1000 island dressing instead of Russian dressing. I thought my grilled cheese and soup was good. The house chips are made on site and we did not find them to be anything special and they had no dipping sauce. Our server checked back only once when we first got our food (someone else delivered to the table) and it took a while to check-out. Overall, I was under whelmed by the experience and not excited to return. I found the atmosphere to be that of a typical bar and I would suggest going...
