Family Pancake is a spacious restaurant in Port Orchard, Wa. There is pretty much room for a family gathering up to a planned party. There is plenty of room for those who want a romantic table for two. This restaurant reminds you of the Pancake house. There is a hostess that will show you to your table. Then you sit. If you are lucky, you might have a menu at the table as you wait for the waitress to take your order. For an average. It might be ten to fifteen minutes before you see anyone. Not that they are busy or anything. It's just that the waitress hangs out in the kitchen. As you look over the menu, you can't help but notice the high prices on simple items that other places have. For example, a stack of pancakes 🥞 at most places will cost you anywhere from $6.00 to $8.00 with a side order of 2 eggs. Here, the price is close to $10.00 just for the pancakes. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and hashbrowns are extra. The price will come close to $20.00. Although the food is delicious, the price tends to get stuck in your throat. For three people, it cost me $63.65 just for bacon and eggs, a side order of hashbrowns, and a cup of coffee. OK, the price of food was high, but the service. One waitress to run the entire restaurant. The hostess just sat on the side and watched. She would seat you but not provide the menus. Apparently, that was the waitress' job. She didn't assist in anything. I had a party of ten. We would have to flag the waitress down to get various things we needed. Example, cutlery or water glasses. The waitress dumped everything in the middle of the table, and we had to sort things out. When she finally took our order, it was then we received our drinks. The food came out nice and hot, but everyone didn't get what they ordered. We tried to catch the waitress' attention, but to no avail. Everyone was halfway through their meal before I could get the waitress' attention and point out the deficiencies. She said that someone else was to bring the rest of the meal. Of course, it was taken off the bill. Chances are, the cook forgot to provide it with the meal. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves with our company. But the food prices for what little we had ordered was the sticking point. Waiting to get the cheque was just icing on the cake until I went to pay the bill. Where did the hostess disappeared too? I don't know. I had to wait ten minutes until she showed up. The waitress was nowhere to be seen either. My first thought was, "Who's running this place?" Then I said to myself. "Who cares. I won't be...
Read moreWe’ve given this restaurant multiple chances, but unfortunately, the service and food quality continue to disappoint. During our most recent visit, the server seemed rushed and unfriendly from the start. Our order was taken quickly without much interaction, and when the food arrived, part of it was inedible. The steak was burnt on one side, and the chili burger was extremely dry. Throughout the meal, we were only offered drink refills once. When the check was brought, our plates were immediately cleared without asking if we were finished. I attempted to ask another staff member for a manager but was completely ignored. When I went to the front to pay and again requested to speak with a manager, two employees laughed and said there was no manager in today, offering instead to bring our server back to the front to address the issues. When the server returned, rather than addressing our concerns professionally, she became defensive and blamed us for not speaking up sooner — despite not checking in during the meal as we told her she didn't check in on us and was more interested in chatting with the others in the kitchen. She eventually removed two items from the bill but did so while visibly frustrated and slamming items at the register and slamming the registered closed. Unfortunately, this experience reflects an ongoing lack of professionalism and care, both in service and food preparation. We always try to support local establishments and give them more than one chance, but after repeated negative experiences, we cannot recommend...
Read moreThe staff & other customers are always super nice, friendly & patient in letting you decide what you're ordering. The menu is VERY diverse including a dinner special each night that is never on the menu. If you like that dinner, you have to go on the particular night it's always on special. Ex: Friday night, is Lasagna for the dinner special. It's not on the menu & you can only get it on Friday about 4:30pm. And the Lasagna goes super fast too. It's always gone by about 7:30pm cuz it's the best ever. My feeling is that a dinner "special" can be made in smaller amounts if it's sells pretty good all night. But if it straight up sells OUT by the time working people can get there, then make a huge amount. I bet it would sell like crazy ALL night, not just the 3 hours only. The regular menu items are great & the menu has breakfast, lunch & dinner items that come with good side items. I like that once a section of the menu starts (ex: lunch @ 11am), it can be ordered till closing. So breakfast is all the time, yummy!! The lunch section has a start time listed on it til close & dinner does too. It can be kinda empty & slow while people are getting off work & deciding dinner or whatever, but it can be really packed & steady on weekends (especially mid mornings) on other days/times. Delicious food, great staff, good prices....
