Big Apple Bagels — Restaurant in Portage

Normally experience is good. Only one time they forgot to toast my sandwich. Otherwise I have been happy. I stopped for a sandwich tonight to go maybe 20 minutes before close. You really had a couple flunkies working. Ordered a ham and provolone on an onion bagel. Toasted. Mayo, tomatoes cukes, and onion. I knew I was in trouble when this young man had to ask me to repeat my order 3 and 4 times. What I found when I arrived home was a ham and provolone on a poppyseed bagel. Which I hate. Untoasted and I know I said toasted at least 3 times. This young man didn't write anything down and the one who made the sandwich evidently didn't listen either. I was the only one in the store. I ended up throwing it away. Worst service ever. Kids need much better training and how to write an order down. I will call on this. I am sure you will make it right. I decided to only give this a 3 star instead of a one. Like I said until these nitwits tonight I never have been disappointed by your business. But I will walk out if I go in and they are the only ones working. ISo people in honesty it is a pleasant place to do business. Just i if they are the ones running it. Updating. I stopped in and talked to the manager. Very nice young lady. Explaied the problem i encountered. Told her upright I won't order from those kids again . She asked if she could make me a new sandwich right now. Hadn't eaten so I decided that would be nice. I was sure they would make it right. So I am cool with them. Normally BigApple Bagel is a solid option. We just left this location and it took 30 minutes to get one toasted bagel with cream cheese and one breakfast sandwich. There were 4 people working and one order in front of us. We didn't end up even eating our food because I could not get over that the man who was working (younger, dark hair and facial hair) was eating with his gloved hands and then touching food that then we watched him serve to a table. I warned the table and they didn't seem to care. The manager wasn't doing anything about this either. That is disgusting. Personally I am not okay with someone shoving food into their mouth and then fixing my food. We did not see him personally touch ours but I could stomach it regardless. We will never go back and I will make sure that my colleagues that stop there in the morning before work are aware of the practices of this location. Just...

UPDATE 7/2/23 We tried Big Apple Bagels today, after 3 years. There were 5 people working at the time. The bagels are great, but the coffee bar still had empty pots...lacking in care. We took coffee to go, and the lids on both cups came off and got all over our car. It tooks us 20 minutes in the parking lot to clean it up. This is our last trip ever. 😞😞
