My husband was recently working in Michigan on a longterm project so I would often travel to see him every chance I got. (We are from WI) While visiting your wonderful state we stopped in here for a bite to eat. Immediately when we walked in we were impressed with the layout and design of the place. From the outside it appeared to be just a regular Applebee's type place. Sorry Centre Street! We are obviously not familiar with the area so forgive our ignorance. Anyway we were very impressed when walking in and the atmosphere was relaxing and just really well designed as well as unique. It was very clean as well! Almost immediately we were pleasantly greeted by a very personable professional staff member who seated us perfectly. It wasn't that crowded upon arrival but it was filling up fast. However the seating is done well so you're not on top of people next to you and can't be social amongst your own table. The staff was very honest and knowledgeable which are two big things I look for in a restaurants customer service. She answered all of my 100 questions in detail and was very patient and professional. Just perfect. Our glasses never went empty and we never needed for anything! The food selection was great and while waiting for our meals we saw other meals coming out of the kitchen with not one looking bad. They all looked just perfect as far as appearance. When our food arrived with a short waiting time our meals were perfection with my husband ordering a steak and myself basically a fancy delicious club sandwich. I pretty much consider us dining connoisseurs since my husband travels so much and since I no longer work and travel often with him we really do appreciate fabulous dining experiences. Also we weren't necessarily looking for a little romantic dinner but where we were seated it turned into a little date night due to the lighting, where we were seated and overall whole experience. Thank you Centre Street Tap House for a great experience. We were impressed with our dining at your lovely establishment. If we are ever in MICHIGAN again we...
Read moreNot a great experience unfortunately. We chose to visit the Tap House because they participated in the Kalamazoo vegan challenge. We ordered the Gazpacho and Paella from the special menu. Unfortunately they were out of the Paella which is a favorite dish for me. From the regular menu we ordered the ramen with tofu, fried green tomatoes and fried Brussel sprouts. We really appreciate the attempt but the gazpacho was more of a dry bland salsa. It was very chunky when it should have resembled tomato soup or even a chili if they were going for a veggie version. The ramen was good but the tofu could have been prepared much better. It appeared to have been fried tofu without marinade. The fried green tomato sandwich was 80% Texas toast, three thin slices of fried tomato and lettuce. I’ve noticed that meat sandwiches have thick slabs of meat on them but veggie sandwiches don’t get much on them at all. Chefs need to consider that veggie sandwiches need to be loaded up just like a slab of dead animal sandwich is. Don’t be stingy, veggies are less calorie dense, load it up. Now to the real issue. The service. We ordered all of our food at once and asked that the sprouts be an appetizer. The sprouts were ordered without cheese and meat, and the mains were 2- paella dishes, ramen and gazpacho. The waiter returned after about 5 minutes to let us know the Paella had run out. I ordered the ramen and my wife ordered the fried tomato. Within 5 minutes the 1st ramen and gazpacho came out. 10 minutes later the fried tomato sandwich and the sprouts with cheese and meat came out. We returned the sprouts. 5 minutes later the correct sprouts were served. The ramen I ordered never arrived. I ate sprouts for dinner. The waiter said “I’m sorry” with almost every sentence he spoke. I was beyond frustrated to the point of just leaving without talking...
Read moreUpdate: It is now Saturday and my visit was on Wednesday. Wednesday evening I became extremely I’ll, throwing up every 2 hours or under like clockwork. 12 episodes in total before going to the ER. I have never been in so much pain in my life, and I gave birth at home. Today is the first day that I have been able to get water based soup down. That fish was the only thing I ate that day. I wish I had said something while I was there!
Original review: Came on my lunch, there were a handful of tables, two female servers and one male bartender. It took over 10 minutes to get a drink. The server didn’t give me an opportunity to order even though I was definitely ready, she ran away as fast as she could. She helped all of her tables, walked back and forth in the kitchen, until finally flagged her down when she brought another table their check.
Ordered the fish and chips, specifically asking what a remoulade was, she said it was like tartar sauce. I asked her specifically if it was like classic tartar with Mayo and pickles and she said yes. Fish arrived as one giant piece of fish and the sauce was not at all classic tartar. I ate half of the fish and gave up because it was super fishy and the sauce seemed to make it more so. I didn’t care for it at all. She never checked on me since I had asked for my check when I ordered since I was on my lunch.
Probably won’t stop by on my lunch again and I won’t take their word for what menu items are and aren’t since she didn’t really know but did speak confidently as if she did. I probably would have tipped less had I known that my service ended when she took my payment right after my...
