Teatery — Restaurant in Portage

I was extremely disappointed in my experience. My partner and I decided to give it a try seeings as we always go to either Valpo or Merrillville for bubble tea. The price was usual for bubble tea being the 5$ range. No problem there I was totally expecting that. However what I wasnt expecting was the horrible customer service. The boy who took our order was very short and rude with us. When I asked to double check that he got my order correct he assured me he did. Of course when I received my drink it was wrong. Not only did I not get the tapioca in my original milk tea but they also didnt add any sugar whatsoever. On top of that my partner who did get tapioca in their drink had hard tapioca. You also only get maybe 5 sips of tea before it's gone seeings as they fill the entire cup up with ice. When the drinks where set on the counter for us to get a girl told us they werent done. After they were sealed and everything. It was extremely confusing. They are definitely drive thru focused!! Not really caring about those who come inside. The only plus side was the interior which was very nicely decorated. I know this place is new and I would love to see it thrive, but if they keep this up...

Updating: knocking off a star. Tuesday specials don't seem to include boba anymore. Boba is kinda the reason to go to a place like the teatery. I've asked their Facebook page a few times, below their Tuesday posts, if the drink includes boba and have gotten no response. I went in and had to pay extra for the boba. They use to include it. A star off for not announcing the change and for not answering questions. I still recommend the place and I understand inflation stinks... But be honest about it and let us know.

Original 5 star review: We love this place. The bobba teas are delicious (smoothies and lemonades too). The people have always been friendly. I think the prices are affordable for fancy bobba drinks. The place is clean and a fun atmosphere. We can't splurge often, but when we can, we don't hesitate to come back here. I definitely recommend the place. They sell gift cards too. I have been to at least 50 boba places and sadly this place is at the bottom of the list. The menu sounded great but the drinks were watery and had no flavor, and even though we ordered and paid for extra boba there wasn't much in the cup. It was less than a regular amount at any other boba place. In addition, some of the boba was hard as a rock and some was extremely smushy in the same sip, meaning it was from the day before, even though we came in the early afternoon. Also paid extra for a milk cap and my drink didn't even have one. Ordered a waffle and it was soggy and had no flavor, paid for a filling and it was all in the bottom of the waffle cup instead of in the waffle. The staff was a bit short with us and drinks were just not up to par with other boba shops. Sad to leave a bad review for anywhere but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
