Hydration Station/H2Moo — Restaurant in Portales

I had a difficult time finding this place, but it was worth the find! Came here on a pretty early Saturday for some coffee and pastries.

First thing I noticed was the amazingly cute decor and interior. There's a ton of introspective quotes that really show the character of this place! I especially appreciate how they intertwine faith with the decor - super ingenious. The store is actually a lot bigger than it looks on the outside. It's kind of cottage-like with a drive-thru area on the side. If you walk past the dining area, there's a hallway that leads to a very cute room with more tables and chairs. I think a lot of groups rent out the space for parties and events, which is really nice!

The have a pretty diverse menu of drinks - espresso, tea, latte, coffee, etc. They also serve different baked items, bagels, muffins, sandwiches, and salads. I was looking forward to getting a sweet item, but they only have it occasionally.

I tried the caramel latte and an apple cinnamon muffin. The latte was pretty good, but not the best flavor wise. The taste could have been stronger and there could have been more caramel flavor, but overall it was not bad. It was a nice drink to have in the early morning. The muffin was tasty. Not sure if it was made in house, but after they heated it up for me - it was really good! Could taste the apple and cinnamon; it wasn't too sweet nor was it dry.

tl;dr - Really wanted to try the salads or sandwiches, but never got a chance to. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area! Their flavored tea drinks seem to be quite popular, and the food items sound intriguing and priced at an...

Recently saw that they dethroned my favorite sandwich shop in Portales, my favorite burger place, and my favorite breakfast burrito stop. Naturally, I'm curious about how great they can actually be! I stopped by to give them a shot.... Well... Let's just say three strikes and you're out. I've never been as horrified as I was eating this. Please, for the love of all things holy... Season your frozen burger patties and add some sort of complex flavors. Ciabatta buns ain't it, chief. Especially when you do the bare minimum to spice it up flavor wise.. Breakfast burrito? Leave it to El rancho breakfast burrito stop. They should be majorly offended and disrespected by the trash you call a breakfast burrito. Your sandwiches???! Get out of here. Leave it to Landall's or do drop, they have an idea of what needs to be done. Try again next year, but this time.. Don't rig the voting by buying your own newspapers. Let the public do their thing. It's clear by the amount of awards you won that you didn't do things fairly. For such a "godly" shop, you sure gave in to your selfish temptation. Be humble and accept praise where it's deserved. We had the worst experience with management there. We rented out the venue for a birthday party and after sweeping, mopping and fixing an already broken toilet, we were told we’d have to wait 2 weeks for our $300 deposit back. After 2 weeks, calling multiple times and getting the run around I finally went to speak with management only to find kids there running the store with no way to reach a manager. Then my wife gets a call stating I was “harrassing” the staff and that charges could be pressed against me for simply asking about our deposit. Very grimy way of doing business. GO...
