It seems like Roosevelt is THE place to be if you're craving good food and company. The place gets so busy on Friday and Saturday nights that it's recommended you call ahead to get a reservation. This place is known for their pizza and their beers, and I believe they have a discount on their pizzas every Wednesday night.
Came awhile back with some friends without making a reservation. While the restaurant was not too busy, most of the tables were "reserved". Luckily, we were still able to get a seat fairly quickly.
Menu isn't too extensive - with items such as sandwiches, burgers, pizza pies, and their selection of IPAs and ales. They also serve espresso coffee, and are quite known for the cupcakes they serve here, so it seems like most of their food items are pretty good.
Gravy 'n Cheese Fries: $6 These were probably super unhealthy, but they hit the spot after a long week. Fries seemed to be more of a Cajun type of French fry, and gravy and cheese sprinkles were doused on top of the fries. Very similar to chili cheese fries - taste was not too bad. There wasn't enough gravy to cover most of the fries, but the fries were nice and crispy.
Both of my friends each went with a custom hamburger. The Brewery has several already concocted burgers on their menus for around $9-10, but you're welcome to create your own starting at $6. With each item you add on, it's about $1, which can get pretty pricey if you want cheese and various toppings. I think adding fries to the burger is an additional price. Both my friends thought it was a pretty decent burger. Better than the burger we got at Vine's.
I was debating between several pies, but ended up going with the Shroomer after the waitress suggested that she enjoyed this one a bit more. With ale braised mushrooms, garlic, pesto, and parmesan, the pizza sounded like a hit! This was $12, so a bit pricey; however, the pizza was fairly large, enough to last me two meals. Overall I was pleased with how this tasted. Really enjoyed the taste of the dough, as well as the pesto and mushrooms. Only gripe was that a rather large portion of the pizza seemed to be a large portion of the crust, giving me less mushroom and pesto topping on the pizza. But other than that, it was good!
One of my friends did mention that she had a stomachache after eating a pizza with her husband during a prior visit, but luckily this time we were all fine. Service was pretty good - the place gets busy and the workers get busy as well, so it can take several minutes before you can flag somebody down.
tl;dr Overall, a solid visit! Super glad I gave it a try before leaving. I would definitely suggest going with the pizzas over the burgers. If you're a fan of beer, give some of their ales a try! I never tried any, but I heard...
Read moreVery disappointed today. Ive previously worked there and ate food over the past years. This was my first time in since the pandemic, i think the front of house needs more training, the server was friendly but very green and didnt provide napkins for the grease or a second water bottle even though we didnt order a drink other than water. We came in because of the rueben promotion. The kitchen was very cheap with my dates toppings and i didnt realize the fries changed. I ordered the turkey sandwich because it was always my favorite, and on the menu it still lists it comes on sourdough bread. It came out on a bun, to which i asked if it was brioche because i have an egg allergy. She didnt know, i asked if they had the bread listed on the menu and she said no i said ok what other bread could i have she said either that bun or the rye the rueben came on. I again asked if the bun had egg she said she didnt know, but didnt offer to go ask. I agreed to the rye, and after 5 minutes she came back and said what was wrong with your sandwich again, i repeated and 15 more minutes later, i finally got my sandwich. I was incredibly disappointed in how the quality and quantity of the food has gone down. There were two thin pieces of precooked bacon, a few slices of avocado and the turkey was cut up into tiny pieces where it used to be like a sub. This town needs a good restaurant, and overall the experience was so saddening. Id still recommend anyone visit and try some of the beers because they make em in house and the restaurant is very clean, but until they step up the food back to how good it used to be, i dont know that i could recommend going there for food right now. Theres a wood fire oven so maybe stick to chips...
Read moreWell decided to go here versus traveling to Clovis for my birthday dinner with my daughter. For the amount of time it took at this establishment, we could have went to Clovis and back by the time we finished here. The waitress and her trainee were very nice at first. Got our drinks in a decent time, but the food took a long time. We ordered before a table of 6 and they received their order before our table of 2. Than two tables came in after us both who received their appetizers before our food. I started to realize either our waitress forgot to put in our order, held the order for awhile, or the cooks didn't like the waitress because the other waitress tables were getting there food before our waitress tables. Mindful when we went in it wasn't busy but did get busy after we had been seating there for awhile. After almost an hour of seating we received our food. Oh and the waitress said, sorry our kitchen is backed up. I think the "I'm not dumb stare" frightened her because after receiving our food she rarely came to check on us. I will say the guy trainee did come to our table. I didn't see a manager so I didn't complain, but with past experiences, that didn't help anyways. My daughter went to the restroom and saw 3 people in the kitchen area so I'm not sure how they could be backed up. We were there for almost 2 hours. Guess I will try the place after another two years like last time, because that time my friend got food poisoning. Hopefully the managers use this experience to fix the problems and make the...
