Denny's — Restaurant in Porterville

Our waitress Lillian A was awful. She takes our order and when we say we would like to start off with an appetizer and have that first and then our entree she tells us they don’t do that(we do this at every restaurant we go to, including this same restaurant and have never been told no or that they don’t do that). She tells us she puts in the order and everything comes out together (she lets us know there is one cook) we were the only ones ordering food the other couple there had already finished their meal. I told her I want my appetizer first before my meal so she scuffs and gets an attitude asks what we want for our appetizer so my husband tells her and she just takes off, I hadn’t even ordered my salad. I got up to get her back to our table but she was no where to be found, so another lady helped us and sadly we only saw Lillian 3 other times and that was to bring our food after that she was no where to be found. Didn’t check on us to see if we needed refills, dessert or anything else. We had to again ask the other lady...

I really appreciate the staff and service here. What sets this place apart is the staff - they’re kind and treat you with the utter most respect. Alexis T, our server, spoke both Spanish and English and was very attentive to our needs. She was handling 5+ tables, on a busy Sunday morning, and was nothing short of amazing! In such location, it’s critical to have bilingual staff, and the staff here gets it. As a previous director in customer service, I can truly attest that having bilingual staff, and having the staff be able to answer specific questions in Spanish, really adds to the experience (in particular, my experience because I don’t have to translate the menu for my mother and aunties). If I was a director at Denny’s, Alexis T would be training all of my servers. I love this location because it’s central to my shopping needs and makes for an easy stop. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant! If I could rate this place a 0 STAR then I would!! First we get seated at a table with the sun hitting us right in our face and ask to move to another table. Then once moved our waitress bring us our food and drinks and then not even 5 minutes later comes back and hands us the tab without even asking if we needed anything else. After finishing our meal we waited another 30 minutes for the waitress to come back and offer us refills or even a to go box but NOTHING! We literally had to get up and look for someone to come bring us a box and to go cup! Not ONCE did our waitress come check on us or ask if we needed anything other than bringing us the tab right after serving us our food. We spent a good 2 hours in there in total! Not to mention there were only 3 other tables eating in the whole restaurant so it’s not like she was overwhelmed or busy!? No wonder they had no Buisness because from my experience they have HORRIBLE...
