Until 1990, veteran's Park was a12ft height sand dune(look at the old oak tree next to center gazebo)! One man researched traditions and took it on himself to reclaim the old west's city dump, as it was making students ill. Healing the earth, instead of destroying it the way the city was with fraking ("water restoration"). 3 years healed for each year the dune remained. Environmental scientists declare 100 years for the city dump to be hospitable to vegetation, 33 years with the sand dune. Leased for 99 years minus the 30 years the dune stayed, another 30 after becoming veteran's, and the lease from the federal government(put in my name after his death) has some 40 years remaining.
