Angel Food & Fun has been a favorite spot for us in the Alberta neighborhood, a hidden gem we visit every time we're in town. However, our recent experience was extremely disappointing.
We ordered 18 tacos, a burrito, and carne asada fries for take out, but the quality of the food was unacceptable. We only took it down the block so it’s not like we traveled across town with the food and it didn’t sit on the counter long waiting for a delivery driver or anything like that so it should have been fresh.
The meat was riddled with fat pieces, cartilage, and was overly chewy and gummy. We encountered random hard and inedible pieces in the meat that posed a choking hazard. Despite requesting onions on the side, they were still added to the tacos. The tortillas seemed old and hard, particularly on the ends, and the carne asada fries had stale french fries along with that weird gummy, hard, meat (I hope it’s meat? It was questionable lol) The very few limes that were provided were so hard and old they could have broken a window.
This experience was a far cry from the delicious meals we've had before. We paid $100 plus tip, and I feel like I could have thrown that money away and been happier than dealing with the disappointment and grossness of the food.
I don’t even want my money back. Too many problems to go over. Hopefully they can put that towards better quality food for other people who are unfortunate enough to stumble in this now questionable...

Still love the Panuchos and Salbutes, but this time they had homemade Horchata that was delicious (it had a very fine grit of cinnamon, which is better than it sounds. They've got a sidewalk out front now and I want all-y'all to go and enjoy.
Old Review (2016): If you like Mexican food, you must visit Angel Food & Fun. This is a little hole in the wall attached to a lottery and pool hall. They offer most of the usual Mexican fare and it's rather good, but you need to have what makes them unique: Panuchos & Salbutes
I've never heard of panuchos and salbutes, now I can't forget. This is food from the Yucatan and very few places in Portland serve it. At $2 a pop I recommend getting at least 2 of each. We had both the chicken and beef panuchos and salbutes. We loved both for different reasons. The beef was delicious with onions and cilantro. The chicken was equally delicious with a small slice of avocado, jalapeno, tomato and bright pink pickled onions. This is a meal you don't want to miss.
We are very disappointed we live in Beaverton, or we'd be...
Read moreYou ever notice that it's always the same black dodge bro dozer parked in front (black pickup with a red stripe)? Compensate much? That's because the workers prioritize their parking before anyone else's. You'll never get front row parking here because the customers are always last. And that comes to the food. It's terrible. I had some serious chewy fat in my carne asada burrito, and it was not seasoned. The tortilla was tough, more stale than anything. I'm certain it was pre-packaged tortillas. Oh let's not forget about the flies. You have to constantly keep swatting them away. Gross. Overall this place is a front. They have video poker here and I suspect it's what keeps the place open. This place isn't a restaurant. It's more of a tweaker and riff raff hangout. It's already sketchy with the video poker "clientele," so I think it's safer to look for an actual restaurant and not some quasi bar/gambling hall. Food was meh. My burrito was awful and...
