I was excited to share this cute space with my boyfriend after having been once before with some girlfriends. But was unfortunately met with a rude, pompous server (the only one there) immediately upon arrival. We were the only patrons in the bar the entire time we were there.
We asked to sit in the cave because again, not another patron. And was told there was a reservation for the cave in 40 minute. We told him we would only be there for 20 minute because we had a dinner reservation to get to and he scoffed and continued to serve up the most attitude I’ve ever gotten at an establishment. Already feeling belittled by the server, I ask for him to run over the flavor profiles of the orange and red wines and he says there’s too many to go over all of them (there are literally 6 on the menu in total). And eventually he goes over 2 options as if I’m annoying him with my presence. To make matters worse, there was another employee who looks like the owner of the bar, right next to him during the whole encounter and doesn’t say anything. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable the entire time.
Although the wine itself was good, I would be very hesitant to ever recommend this place to anyone unless you want to leave feeling upset. They need to get rid of...
Read moreAs a returning patron, I was eager to share Bar Nina with friends from out of town, given my fond memories of its earlier iteration as Les Caves: A Winery Bar. Unfortunately, our evening was overshadowed by one server’s pompous and condescending demeanor, which ruined the occasion. Rather than fostering an atmosphere of inclusion and discovery, this individual chose to patronize my friends, dismissing their questions and opinions with a sneering attitude.
What was most egregious, however, was his apparent lack of fundamental wine knowledge. He confidently contradicted well-known attributes of a common wine varietal, making statements so incorrect they bordered on embarrassing. When politely questioned, he doubled down with hostility, creating an awkward and uncomfortable environment for our group.
As individuals who appreciate and regularly enjoy exploring wine, we were appalled by the arrogance and unprofessionalism on display. We left feeling disrespected and disinclined to return. For a bar positioning itself as a haven for wine enthusiasts, this was a glaring failure. Staff education and customer interaction should be held to much...
Read moreAs a semi-frequent patron of Les Caves, I felt slightly apprehensive when I saw the name change, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to give it a shot. As a whole, the business is pretty much the same besides one or two new faces, minor decor changes, a small adjustment of ownership, and a few more snack options. The wine selection is wonderful, ranging from affordable mystery pours to exquisite aged bottles. In addition to the great wine, Nathan and Pierre will make you feel like family with their unmatched hospitality. They make this a special place, no matter the name the business...
