Cat’s Paw is a bit of a gem on Division. It looks pretty small from the outside, but there is a back area that does have some heated seating. There is also seating in front of the bar outside. Every time I’ve been by, it’s busy-obviously a local gem. The best reason to come here is for the vibes. They play very loud music that is full of energy and fun. The bartender was friendly and upbeat. Everywhere is loud, so that could be overwhelming for some. There’s also some communal seating, or if you get your own table, it’ll most likely be close to another table. So be ready to get cozy! I would come back, but probably only for something on tap. The mixed drinks were good, but not amazing. I had a smoked maple old fashioned, which was good but overly sweet. My friend had a whiskey sour that was tasted really watered down.

Smaller go-to bar with fast service and half covered backyard patio. It looks cute here. Smaller tap list with rotating ciders. They're cool with you bringing pizza from the underrated Atlas pizza across the street, too.

Great spot, we’ve lived in the area since they opened and we come here a lot. Skater owned and operated, awesome art on the walls and just an overall solid spot for a few beers and a slice of atlas pizza! Be warned though, the bartender can be rude. She cuts people off who are seemingly fine and just loud or having a good time but lets her buddies continue to drink when they obviously shouldn’t. Be on your best behavior or she will literally take your drink right out of your hands.

Update: Bartender is still there, still rude. Really wish they would get some new blood in there to tend the bar since we really do love this spot and the patrons who hang there. I’ve been treated rudely and unfairly several times and I’ve witnessed it happening to other folks on more than 1 occasion (both regulars and out of towners). Based on the other reviews for CP, this isn’t an isolated incident. However, there is another bartender who I see from time to time and she is lovely! Welcoming, friendly and chill but sadly I don’t think she works the fri-sat night shift.

In reference to the owner’s comment to my original review: Mickey, I agree, you should talk to your bartender that so many customers have complained about and ask her to “play nice in the sandbox” and treat all your customers with fairness and respect and drop the whole gatekeeping act. Rude and passive aggressive bartenders are not cool and not what I would expect from a friendly neighborhood bar like CP! Maybe she would be happier in another...

EDIT: apparently Cat's Paw is insensible to disgrace--empathy is strictly transactional in New Portland. But meow meow, Cat's Paw, I DO have feelings, I am a human being, you could have apologized :( But alas you are an appendage of a cat, do cat's have empathy?

I have alot of intergenerational trauma and transatlantic intersectional grief. My mother also had a personality disorder and this experience felt equally traumatic as getting pushed out of an anti-fa occupied zone--same vibes (IMO). Cat's Paw please engage in restorative justice with me.

Cats Paw; Reeaarw!!! The bartender today at 3p took my phone to pay, couldn't because she ignored the instructions on the screen which say to push the right button. Then she asked me if I had stolen my phone. Weirdly she kept asking if I'd been there before, like its some kind of special club.

She was smiling, so I was dumbfounded by her actually calling me a thief, I asked her if i should leave, she wouldn't tell me to just asked me rhetorically if I had 13 dollars in cash when I had told her I forgot my wallet, and she kept saying my phone wasn't going to work when I kept telling her it was because she wasn't pushing the button.

Finally i just walked away. It was so weird and so passive aggressive.

Word to the wise, Cat's Paw, from a former lawyer, making a false statement, injurious of reputation, in front of other people is called slander, it ruined my afternoon and was totally...
