Dara Thai & Teriyaki — Restaurant in Portland

The food is average, the price is decent but not that cheap (I guess people are used to the crazy prices of whole foods and the swankier restaurants in the area?), and the "salad" you get with your meal is basically just bland lettuce and basic dressing - if you want some hearty veg to balance your meal you'll have to have it at home.

If you just crave some teriyaki for the sake of teriyaki and don't want to make it yourself, you won't be disappointed, and don't get me wrong, the meat is tasty for what it is... but there's nothing special here that I've had so far - certainly nothing here to justify the 5 star ratings. Maybe I need to try something else on the menu. Will update if I find a rockstar...

This place wasn't worth the $45 I spent for just 2 small entrees and an appetizer. We got the pad Thai and the Tom Kah curry. The Tom Kah curry was extremely watered down and wasn't appetizing, pictures attached. And on top of that they added a 15% tip without my acknowledgment after I put my card in. I love tipping but not without my consent. Also the food made my stomach queasy afterwards. I don't think I'll be retuning here again. I really don't like feeling like I wasted my money, especially because I went out of my way to support this establishment. I asked if the tip could be refunded to me and they cashier said no, although I know it’s easy to do so because square is the provider. See...

Tried the beef yakisoba here today, heard they had good prices and large portions.

They gave 2/3 of a plate full of food, maybe 2oz of meat. Not a large portion, i would call a FULL plate a REGULAR portion. The meat was trimmed and not fatty, so that was the upside.

The noodles though, were really watery, maybe not strained completely if at all before plating, felt like more of a soup and actually made the plate get cold really fast.

If this plate was like $9 i wouldnt complain, but i regret spending $12 for it. For $12, it would be nice to have gotten at least a small complimentary drink or something, but of course thats extra. Probably...
