Doe Donuts + Ice Cream — Restaurant in Portland

OMGoddess! Doe Donuts are absolutely THE BEST donuts I've ever had the pleasure to consume, vegan or otherwise. Most donuts are just a vessel for sugar consumption, but not Doe Donuts. Instead of adding a little chocolate to sugar, they add a little sugar to the chocolate or whichever flavor is the star of the donut. I actually drive all the way from Woodburn once or twice a month to gorge on Doe Donuts.

Some of my favorites have been the black currant with buttered toast crumbs, blackberry lime, banana walnut, yuzu, chik'n and waffles, Thai tea, salted vanilla bean, London fog, mango lassi twist with cardamom (dang I love cardamom!)....I could go on an on. I've never had a bad Doe Donut. This weekend I plan on trying the pistachio with date caramel, the horchata, and the carrot cake. They change flavors every month or two, so if you get bored with the flavors (you won't), there will be new flavors to try. I always look forward to seeing what new creative flavors they come up with.

Oh and this past summer I had the most delicious Thai tea with the salted vanilla bean donut on top. I missed all the donut nice cream sandwiches, but I will not let that happen this summer! I also missed out on the butterscotch fritter so I hope they bring that back.

Remember, they often sell out early so don't wait until 2 p.m. to stop by or (like me) you might miss a flavor you were really looking forward to trying. Doe Donuts, my tastebuds thank you for the culinary adventures every time I come in. Also, thanks for showing the world how truly delicious...

We got to Doe Donuts around 10am on a cold Saturday morning and were surprised to find quite a line out the front (not, however, too long to dissuade us from joining). The wait was worth it if only to eavesdrop on the first date that was occurring in the line in front of us. Doe Donuts is taking very good COVID precautions, only allowing one set of customers (meaning an individual or a group) in to the store at a time. The staff are very professional and knowledgeable about the ingredients (great for those with allergies) and it was exciting to see such a delicious-looking array of donuts and ice cream. While being the only customers in a shop at a time can be a somewhat daunting experience that may encourage the faint of heart to rush their order, the feeling in the store was very relaxed. We got the vanilla glazed, pierogi, lavender cookie dough, and strawberry sprinkled donuts. While I've had many friends recommend Doe Donuts, I've had better donuts at many other Portland locations- the flavor of the icing was too subtle for my liking, and the quality of the donuts left a little to be desired (not as fluffy or fresh tasting as some other spots). For those looking to Doe Donuts as a first date spot, I would suggest this based on the quality of the service and variety of flavors but I would stress that the wait time while in line may exhaust your small-talk reservoir, leading to somewhat awkward back and forth which may flow into the next section...

My favorite Doughnut in PDX. They are so good that every now and then I like to buy several boxes for the accounts that I manage on the Coast, Salem, McMinnville, etc. because it is a treat that they wouldn’t get unless the come to PDX. I know about the website and ordering ahead but I don’t have the time or I didn’t even plan ahead of time for this because it is not important enough to plan ahead, it is just a treat. I wanted to buy 1 box of 12 and 5 boxes of 6 and the person with black curly hair at 8 am with no line behind me tells me that the limit in store is only 2 dozen of doughnuts when the last time I bought some in store and I dropped over $150 in freaking doughnuts. That is just lazy behavior. Sell me the freaking doughnuts. I am not asking for discounts or gifts, I just wanted to take your doughnuts to at least 6 different accounts on the coast and only 3 are going to be able to experience them. The doughnuts are great but they are worthless while they are in the case. You could have made an easy good amount of money early on the day but the lazy behavior got in the way of that. I even tipped even though I wasn’t satisfied with the service provided. The doughnuts are amazing, I just hoped to blessed more peoples days with your doughnuts today!
