Their food doesn't taste authentically Mexican because their Sopes have a hard and dry texture as if they were purchased in a Mexican supermarket frozen, then brought to the restaurant kitchen and heated up for your order.
In addition, they charge you a surcharge of $0.50 to substitute the corn (maize) tortillas for flour tortillas on any of their entree combinations! I've dined at several other Mexican restaurants, and other Don Pedro's in the Portland metro and Vancouver metro areas, and not once was I charged an additional $0.50 for choosing flour tortillas over corn tortillas. Specifically, at Don Pedro's Mexican restaurant #3, they allow you to choose any type of tortilla with every order and even extra flour tortillas on request for a large family order without an additional charge.
Even worse is the cashier didn't inform me upon placing my order that there would be a surcharge for changing from their included corn tortillas to flour tortillas, and if informed ahead of time, I would of never requested the flour tortillas and just settled for the corn tortillas. I'm choosing to dine at Don Pedro's because of their low prices, long open hours, and authentic homemade Mexican taste. If I were willing to pay more for my Mexican meal, I would of patronized a higher quality establishment such as Sí Señor Mexican Restaurant or Casa de Lola.
I didn't realize they surcharged me for the flour tortillas until I scrutinized my receipt, then had to ask another cashier what "Item 06 - $0.50" meant. Most customers don't even bother to read their receipt, much less parse each line item to determine which one indicates an additional $0.50 surcharge for flour tortillas! Even though this is the Don Pedro's closest to my home, I prefer to drive half an hour farther to Don Pedro's Mexican restaurant #3 for homemade authentic taste like the way Nana used to cook when you visited her on the weekends, and flour tortillas included in all their...
Read moreBad service!!!###. I wanted my order togo, I orderd 3 tacos 2 sopas ,rice & beans, chips and salsa. I noticed the cook threw out a plate on the counter and said 3 tacos, then the 2 cooks were just standing there. I was not even aware this was to be my order for one it was missing many items and it was NOT to go! It was like they didnt have a clue my order was togo or that i even had more items orderd. Then after everyone was cleared out i was still standing there this was after the tacos sat out on a plate for atleast 7min or so the lady noticed me and looked at the tacos then she took them back to the cook i seen them put the tacos in a container and then he started cooking the other things! I told her i didn't want the tacos because they sat out on a plate 7 min before they realized it was togo and also i had alot more food coming that they are just now starting. Then she just acted like she didnt hear me and turned around. Then after few more minutes after order done she started bagging up everything ignoring that i didn't want the tacos. She handed me the bag and MY BEANS and rice were not in there!!!!#### I had to remind her of that as well. I wont be going back to that place ever gain... Dont...
Read moreHorrible service... Good food. But service will kill the food. I didn't leave a tip on the receipt (which you shouldn't have to for just a Burrito). It's drive thru as well. I wasn't sitting at a table being served. The girl looked at the receipt after I handed it back, gave me a rude look, then handed me my bag with no eye contact or thank you. She quickly closed the window as to say get out of here. Wow. First of all, you should not expect a tip. Second, do not look at the paper in front of the customer and react to the amount of tip. Third, if they don't leave you a tip, who cares, remember that they are coming and spending money anyway. Fourth, do not attempt to make the customer leave. I was about to anyway, but you made it a statement. Your customers pay the bills.Your customers are NOT obligated to give you a tip!! That space for tips should not be on there, it's ridiculous. If you want tips, wait tables or bartend or valet. I don't owe you money, I just spent money at your restaurant. And thanks to you, I will not be returning there ever again. Work on your...
