I dont hardly ever write reviews, but i have to for this place due to several upsetting experiences. My mother and I frequented El Indio as our girls night. We spent well over $150 between the two of us and the server /bartender became angry and cussed at us for asking for additional chips and salsa. We were horrified and stunned, we didn't know what to say! By reading a previous recent review I can see he still works there! I am extremely disappointed with what this place has come to. The drinks are ridiculously expensive now, as they cost as much as an expensive meal! When we brought the cussing server up to the manager, he didn't offer to do anything whatsoever. I sweared I would never go back after that experience. But my young son wanted to go. So I took him for lunch. They charged $9.25 for his child's Enchilada even though the menu says $6.45, which btw costs more than an adult Enchilada on the lunch menu. When I went to pay the bill, to the server I asked why he put the incorrect price on the bill and he basically replied "yeah, that's how much it costs." When I got home, I looked up a recent photo of the menu on Yelp and it does in fact say $6.45 for a child's Enchilada. I know we aren't talking big bucks here, but I feel lied to and this place is spent for me. I read several previous recent reviews and they are in fact charging people more than what says on the menu. I'm not sure that is even legal. Dishonest, rude and crazy expensive for plain Mexican food. You can get a 5 star experience for the same price, (actually the drinks cost less!!) at The Matador. Go there instead!
Sorry, no El Indio, I won't accept your templated and automatic response of "giving you another chance" - I...

Positives: I must commend the wait staff at El Indio, as they were impressively fast and friendly during our visit. The food also arrived promptly, and the interior decor of the building was stunning, creating a pleasant ambiance.
Negatives: Unfortunately, my positive impressions ended there, as the negatives quickly overshadowed the experience. The prices on the menu were shockingly high, with a burrito costing a staggering $20. This exorbitant pricing left us feeling disappointed and reluctant to order additional items.
Moreover, the quality of the food itself was abysmal. The shredded chicken was disappointingly bland and dry, lacking any appealing flavor. The fajita chicken, on the other hand, was oddly seasoned to the point of being inedible. The chimichanga was ridiculously small, akin to a mere $2 burrito from Taco Bell, which was both surprising and underwhelming.
To our dismay, every dish we tried tasted like cheap, mass-produced food reminiscent of Cisco products. The lack of authentic and well-prepared flavors was a significant letdown.
Regrettably, our meal at El Indio had an unfortunate consequence, as both my wife and I suffered from stomach discomfort, leading to an unpleasant bout of diarrhea. This distressing experience only added to our disappointment and discomfort.
Given the unpalatable taste of the food, the exorbitant prices, and the uncomfortable aftermath, I strongly advise against visiting El Indio. There are surely better Mexican restaurants in the area that offer more reasonable prices and delicious, authentic...
Read moreThis used to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Gateway area, which is true no more. The food is a gross soupy mess that should come in a bowl, not on a plate. It tastes bad and isn't worth the effort someone put into it to make it. The service is absent, we had to walk around to the kitchen to get seated and then the waiter would disappear only to show up long after you wanted to order or get the check or pay the check or return with your card, I felt like he was trying to get us to dine and dash. There were no customers in the whole restaurant except one other couple and the wait staff still couldn't give us service. They also like to raise their prices right there while ordering, I got there Express Burrito; I think that refers to how fast it made me sick; and no where did it say there was an up charge for carne asad or that the meat options are only chicken or ground beef so he wanted to charge me $3 more for my dinner. My wife got a taco salad, and it was also a soup, and now she is mad and has an upset stomach. They think very highly of themselves because for the bad service they provide if you are in a group larger than five people they charge you an 18% fee or if you spend more than $100 they charge you the same 18% fee, I thought this was there job? They suck at the service they provide and want to charge you more, so on that note, I won't be back unless it's to light the... The chips and salsa are still good, but you only get the...
