Gateway Skate Spot — Attraction in Portland

Its Gateway so of course it's a little ghetto. Other than that, I've never experienced anything negative or sketchy. Cool little dip in bowl for simple skating and beginners. The oark has been clean wvwrytime I've visited. There is a walking path around the park, a kiddo play area with climbing, sliding, bridge crossing, sand and water playing activities. I went twice last summer 2021 and just recently visited again on March 27th 2022 and each time the ice cream man came by! Sooo, thats a plus! The actual park and skaters are great. Unfortunately the area is sketchy. You don't want to be there at night. Assaults and even shootings happen nightly. A lot of sketchy people there at night and even a few during the day but at least during the day there are other parents there as well. I would say this is an absolutely wonderful park in a really bad area. Last time I was there a homeless man exposed himself then walked around the park like that during the middle of the day with...

Skate wise designed for use by one or two people at a time. Too much public money spent on a design that turns a public space into a private space. PPR needs a better advisory team. Simple ramps, bars, and a street course would have allowed more people to engage. Also, it's clear PPR doesn't understand that inline skates, roller skates, scooters, and bikes hit these courses...it's not just for skateboards. Bowls are nice, but these sports mix poorly when there is a...
