Stellar is this establishment! Ive been meaning to write a review for a long time. If I can find the pictures I took last time, I will add them later.
Reading these reviews and viewing the pictures reminds me that I really need to stop back in again soon! There is no other bread that compares to Fressen's, in my opinion. While some other places bake up pre-made/ frozen/par-baked breads shipped in from overseas, they are not anywhere near as fresh, high-quality, or delicious as Fressen's. (The other breads also often have an aftertaste from being stored or frozen so long, or they take on the odors of the sausages and meats they are stored near). Edgar's bread is the highest quality artisan bread I have found in a long time; but also uniquely indicative of Edgar's diverse background and training.
Edgar, Delilah and their staff really listen and consider customer feedback; they are wisely eager to provide the best experience possible. I really hope more folks will support this local business; they sincerely and genuinely care about their customers, their employees, and their community. They have a passion for what they do, demonstrate excellence in integrity and best practices.
Top-notch homemade, hearty breads. Sandwiches are delicious. Setting is charming, comfortable, clean and aesthetically inviting. Coffee and tea service always a special treat. Finally, best for last! Their version of Bienenstich is the best I have ever had.
Thank you all for being so gracious, hard-working, helpful, dilligent...
Read moreWe watched a show on Germany today and they said if you were in Berlin, the one thing you had to try was a pretzel, so my 11 year old decided she NEEDED a German pretzel. She googled and found this place. We put her to work to earn the trip and then headed out. I had read reviews and knew they were only open a few more hours and was worried they might run out. You could smell it deliciousness a block away. We brought our dog and there was a nice covered space for us to sit. My daughter and I went in To order we were met near the door and given a menu, the place was full, but the staff was calm, friendly, and willing to chat. My daughter loved the place and visited with the lovely lady working the counter. It looked like they were out of pretzels, but they let us know a new batch was just fresh out of the oven. We ordered one each and one of the baverian croissants, and a beesting. They were amazing. The pretzel was fluffy and chewy and just delicious. We enjoyed the beesting as well, it was very unique and tasty, but the real star was the croissant. Wow. It was I think the absolute best pastry I have ever had. It was full, fluffy, flaky, buttery and the outer crust was sinful. All in all the trip was worth it ( we love in Aloha) we will...
Read moreI would like to leave a fair and honest review. I visited for the first time knowing it had 5 star reviews, I was really excited. I've been in a few times so far. I've received both warm and lukewarm friendliness from the staff. I'm not sure why the breads and pretzels are left out in the open air all day, literally sitting on a shelf, with dust and germs in the air... my pretzel was really dry. I knew it had to be, but I was curious. The bread loaf, I put into a Ziploc immediately when I got home to try and help it. However- there was a huge fly buzzing in the dessert display case, so maybe that isn't the best place for food either. The lady working didn't bat an eye at it. They encourage you to sit down and eat, but the menu items are spendy. You can get a big loaf of bread for $5, or spend even more for one sandwich. You can make a lot of sandwiches with that loaf. As for the taste- My partner didn't love the drip coffee. The banana bread and pretzels I tried tasted just like something I've made from Pinterest, basic recipe. I had two other pastries that were decent, not mind blowing, and they're spendy. The bread is pretty good, if you come in right when they open so it hasn't dried out. The bread is the only thing I would buy from here...
