Fuller's Burger Shack — Restaurant in Portland

I hate to write bad reviews, but I am going to make it this time only because the level of my disappointment went to the sky. I first tried a burger here 2 weeks ago, and it was so good and delicious that I even had a thought that it was the best burger I've tried in my entire life. Well at least in a fast food place. I wish it was my first & last visit, because the second visit ruined it all. As I waited my order I had plenty of time to see how the work is being done. First of all the kitchen staff works without gloves and hair nets, did you guys hear anything about food contamination? The cook touched ready food with his hands, with which he touched whatever else before that. The cashiers lady with eyelashes, earrings, long-hair with no hair net occasionally came to the kitchen helping the cook. She touched whatever was on her way, coming back to milkshakes, taking unpacked straws with her hands and putting to the glasses, all done with dirty hands. Did you hear about Covid at least? At this point my appetite was gone already. However the worst was on the way, the burger - overcooked patty, unmelted cheese, it looked the same as it tasted. Ugh, I just threw away the most of it. I should have been gone as I saw them working, and not waiting...

I’d been wanting to try this place and I saw on their IG the October burger special. Looked good so I decided to try it tonight since I had to pick up a friend from the airport. They close at 8:00pm. I knew this and my plan was to get there by 7:30 cause I know it’s a bummer feeling when you’re trying to close up and a customer shows up last min. Unfortunately I showed up tonight at 7:48pm. I was doubtful that I would get good service or even fresh food. While I wasn’t greeted initially for about a min even though they saw me, the gentleman from the kitchen said he’d be right with me. He came around about 30 sec later and thanked me for my patience. As I placed my order, he was so energetic and friendly! Took his time to explain the side sauces asked me what I liked and how I wanted my milkshake etc. and then the food. While it’s true it wasn’t life changing, it was hot, fresh, tasty and the service was fantastic. It seemed maybe he was a shift leader cause I heard him thank a female co-worker for being awesome. So the food I’m giving a 4/5 and the service 5/5. To the owner, please give praise to your night crew that worked closing 10/2. Great attitude....

First time visitor today. I ordered a basic cheeseburger. The cashier misread my order so I politely corrected her. A few minutes later, I received the order, with no acknowledgment from the staff (i.e. “thank you,” etc.), and went on my way. In my car I thought I’d double check the order and wouldn’t you know it…it was wrong.

I walked back in and informed the cashier of the error, asking if they could re-make the burger correctly. While the cashier was looking up the receipt for my purchase an older gentleman working there, presumably the manager, shouted for the cashier to just bring him the sales receipt so he could remake the order. Another few minutes later and I was on my way. Again, no acknowledgment of my presence or even an apology for the mix-up.

This time the burger was made correctly but it was dry as a bone…almost as if the patty had been over cooked (would Reddit call that malicious compliance?). In the end I was hungry so I ate it.

It’s quick food. I get it. But food quality and customer service are still...
