I got the chicken torta and the horchata. The drink was great! I liked the orange zest, but for 7 dollars, I expect a bit more horchata than ice. See the picture for more details. 7 DOLLARS, for a CUP THAT IS 3/4 ice. Let that sink in for a moment. That’s almost a 10 dollar drink, that’s a meal at McDonald’s where you’d get a sandwich, fries, and a drink and get 2 dollars in return. I WILL NOT SUPPORT A FACILITY/OWNER WHO IS CLEARLY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR CLIENTELE.
Chicken torta was good, the bread tasted good, but chicken was a little dry. Luckily their salsa is really good and makes up for some of the dryness.
What I am worried about is the people cooking the food. I got an order to go and they make you go to a separate area for pickup and delivery orders, you can see the kitchen extremely well from there.
2)There was a person eating in the kitchen???? Like what the heck???? I literally walked in and saw him put what looked like a chip in his mouth. I understand as a cook you may have to try the food, I don’t understand eating in the KITCHEN, AND NOT WASHING YOUR HANDS AFTER YOU GOT SALIVA ON THEM FROM EATING. WHAT THE HECK DUDE??????
I WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING A BUSINESS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OTHERS BY CHARGING RIDICULOUS PRICES AND JUST FILLING UP DRINKS WITH ICE, OR A FACILITY THAT CANT SEEM TO TRAIN THEIR DAMN STAFF IN BASIC HYGIEN....
Read moreI decided to try this restaurant based on its high ratings and glowing reviews, but my experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. Here’s my personal take—some may disagree, but that’s fine: I ordered chips and guacamole after confirming it was not spicy at all so I could share it with my child. Unfortunately, it turned out to be spicy, which was disappointing. In fact, I couldn’t find anything on the menu that wasn’t spicy. I ordered a bowl with chicken, avocado, and extra tomatoes. The chicken and tomatoes were overly salty, and the arugula wasn’t fresh—it seemed like it had been sitting out all day. The dish was overwhelmingly spicy and salty, but not in a flavorful way you’d expect from Mexican cuisine. It wasn’t a distinct spice like Habanero or Jalapeño, but more of a generic pre-mixed seasoning, like something you’d find at a warehouse store. One concerning detail I noticed at the end was that the ceramic coating on the bowl was chipped, exposing a rusty surface at the bottom—I really hope I don’t get sick from it. The serving size was generous, but that didn’t make up for the disappointing quality. There were no juice options for kids, which was inconvenient. Overall, I found this place overrated and overpriced. I could have had a much better meal from a Mexican food cart and enjoyed every bite. I only chose this restaurant to have a fun outing with my baby, but it fell short of expectations.

Read moreFriends and family are huge fans of Guero, so there has been a lot of hype about it in my life, but it just wasn’t for me.
Things I liked: chips & salsa, atmosphere, and service. There was a ton of natural light, live plants, colorful accents, and it’s cozy. We were seated indoors and the table service was efficient and quicker than expected from start to finish. I really liked the chips and salsa we started with. The chips were crispy and salty, and maintained their shape without exploding into a million pieces. The salsa was very fresh and flavorful.
Not for me: the bowl, honestly. I think if you really like arugula then you will love the bowl. I ordered the bowl because I had plans after and didn’t want to store leftovers in my car; I didn’t think I would be able to finish a torta either. It was very much an arugula-only bowl with really fresh salsa, pickled onions, radish, other fresh veggies, some beans, and some rice. The flavor of arugula completely overpowered all other ingredients unfortunately. I believe the menu said “greens dressed in salsa with…”, and I wish that arugula was made clearer in the description of the bowl. The portion was reasonable, but I definitely would have chosen something else where arugula wasn’t the star...
