Quite possibly the best neighborhood pub in the whole damn city. Not hipstery modern, but not dirty and dank either (and I don't mind either of those things). But somehow the Stone is just right. Down to earth, filled with average friendly Portland folk of every (adult) age. Cozy but with lots of windows and outdoor seating. Super friendly bar staff who seem genuinely happy to see everybody. Enough TVs to watch a game (or two) from anywhere in the place but not so many (or so intrusively) that you'll be distracted if you just want to chat. Cornhole tournaments outside in the summertime.
Great drinks -- including lots of infused stuff they do themselves if you want to get fancy -- and hands-down the BEST burgers I have ever had in any establishment in any city, period. And no, I've never written that in a review before. They cost $8-10 and are worth like $1,000. Also, possibly the best clam chowder I've ever had too (Fridays only) -- definitely the best in a non-coastal city.

Read moreI love this little bar. It’s a great spot for a solo drink, or to visit with a small to medium size group. The service is more friendly and engaging than a lot of little Portland bars where you may receive less positive and helpful interaction. My rating on the food may not be a great representation because I’ve only ever ordered nachos, however I come back 1-2 times a week because I love the nachos so much. Stop in for the BBQ pulled pork nachos any day 3:00pm-9:30ish they start the late night menu at about 9:30 daily (other nachos still available, just not pork) the BBQ chicken nachos are an equally delicious favorite. The stone also has some really fun cocktail specials, my favorite being the Mango Jalapeño Margarita (another item I come back for at least...
Read moreBartender was extremely rude about us asking if we could sit outside and order food with our two month old in her stroller. You would think we were trying to bring our baby into a strip club or something. We simply wanted to sit on the patio and eat dinner at 6pm on a Tuesday. I understand if that’s their policy but I didn’t appreciate the mom shaming and making a scene about it in front of other patrons. She could have politely explained their policy. It’s not uncommon for bars/breweries in Portland to allow minors before a certain time to eat a meal, as we have done multiple times at other establishments. Especially when they have a full food menu...
