Our family are big fans of the Alberta location, so imagine our glee when we visited this new NW location today! We went in around 1:30 (On a Saturday) and found the place in an industrial area. The exterior of the building is very cool looking. It was packed inside but the hostess led us to a waiting room with big tables and crayons/papers for the kids. It was in the back where there were barrels and other things to look at. We sipped our drinks - a hazy for the husband and a cider for myself (more on that in a minute). We did not wait long and were seated comfortably by the big windows. It is rather loud in there, which can make conversation difficult, but masks any loud sounds our kids made, which was great. We noticed right away that the menu had some different items than the other location so we were excited to try something new. We ordered the pretzel and queso, along with some shrimp chips. The pretzel and queso were awesome. The chips...eh. Better when we dipped them in the queso. The pretzel was pretty small, so we had plenty of queso left. Our food arrived pretty quickly- halibut sandwich for the husband, Mac n cheese for me with fried chicken (WOW). Clam chowder and quesadilla for various kids. Portland has so many breweries with good food so you really have to be special to stand out in the crowd. GN does it well - their food is consistently amazing and creative. My husband can attest to the beer quality than I can, but he was full of compliments as he tried 2 hazies. As for the cider...it would be nice if they offered a couple of more options. We are always blown away by GN- their staff is always so kind, helpful and upbeat. We will definitely make this a regular stop - especially when bringing friends from out of town. So. Good.

I am disappointed to share my negative experience with this place (yet again). Despite their leap day special promotion of buying 4 packs and receiving a fifth for a penny, I encountered terrible customer service and an arrogant attitude from the staff. Upon picking up my order, they attempted to give me a beer separate from what I had ordered (I ordered four smoothies as that is the only beer I like). When I pointed out the promotion does *not* specify in any manner the fifth pack would/could be different, the staff member informed me that the bonus pack is based on store discretion and may not contain the beer I prefer. Despite showing them the promotion does *not* mention this on my screen, they offered no solution other than a refund. There was no attempt to rectify the situation or offer a substitute on a $100+ order ( I suppose they think they are the best thing since sliced bread and not worry about the horrid experiences). Moreover, their online ordering system complicates matters further. Although I could place an order online, I am required to (conveniently) email customer service to request a refund as the staff on-site were unable to process it. Overall, I am deeply disappointed by this experience and will/cannot recommend this establishment due to their poor customer service, arrogant attitude, and shady promotions. They have lost my trust and future business indefinitely.

Beer quality and taste is down. Kitchen is closed. QR codes are gone from the table. Innovation is missing from past days. Prices are up. Can art is up? Feels like great notion has checked out. This was my favorite brewery for probably 6 or 7 years I find myself wondering why I keep coming back at this point. The ambiance is always nice but, stuff if just getting weird with the way they do things since 2020 or so. Response to owner comments: I bet my wife (who also previously loved great notion as much as I did) that "the lead guitarist left or something" I see you changed lead brewers in mid 2019, and 2020 is when I started questioning what went wrong (six months of barrel aging and fermenting later) you need to get the original brewer back. You guys are making your money but I'm telling you as a regular follower for the last ten years... That was where you went wrong. Get your guy back. The BBA beers are disgusting these days. That peppermint one last year tasted like mouthwash. Come play with us tasted like spent coffee grounds and improperly fermented maple syrup. Is what it is that's the truth. I wanna love you guys again, get the person who made the beer that made you famous back.

Great Notion was first introduced to me years ago by my peers. Initially, taking the first sip of 'Double Peaches and Cream' smoothie, changed my perspective forever. No longer the days of Rainier, Blue Moon, and similar piss beers such as Coors light.

This location is equipped with all exceptional staff accompanied with great service that I have been introduced to. Out of the Alberta, or the 28th location, I always go with Industrial every time!

I frequent specifically this Great Notion for a few reasons. The staff, The brews, and The Food. The smash burgers, crunch-wraps, and occasional local Vendors, were my favorite all in one experience in all of WA/OR.

Unfortunately, it is with regret, that I am now mentioning they have entirely scrapped the original kitchen menu. I am sure Pizza Thief does a fantastic job as well; Although, it saddens me to now make this my one stop shop solely for Brews/Staff.

I would have loved if the original menu items and flavors were incorporated into the new Pizza Thief Menu as a new beginning, as well as an ode to the renowned original menu items. Before the Kitchen changes...My review would have undoubtedly been a 5 star, but with the Brews solely being the star of the show now, it...
