(Before any of the negative stuff I do want to say that I came on pi day when it was busy all day so it just may have been an off day since they were making so much product. The staff was also wonderful with me and the man at the counter was very helpful answering questions i had for deciding what to get)
I was really craving some good pie and treats so I came here after work and got an assortment of pastries and pie slices and took them home to have with my girlfriend. Sadly a lot of it was average (as it not what you'd expect from a namestay in Portland pie) or not good at all.
To start off on a good note the picnic pie was very tasty with a really good pastry shell and ham and cheese filling, though I could have used less caramelized onions on the inside; they were overwhelming a lot if the flavor in some of the bites I was taking.
The blueberry Danish was also quite good; very tasty filling and a nice glaze.
The oatmeal cinnamon scone was fairly average but a little to cakey and dry.
The biscuit was also not a buttery as I was hoping for and it had a very metallic aftertaste, maybe due to too much flour.
The pies were all a big disappointment sadly. My biggest compaint was that they were either too sweet or lacked balance in flavor.
The bananas in the peanut butter banana pie were old and almost spoiled and the peanut mousse at the bottom of it was overpowering. The honey sesame pie was just too sweet to enjoy and the huckleberry pie berries didn't really have any tartness to them so it was fairly bland.
It was all just really disappointing. I work as a baker so when I go out to a dessert shop I really want something that I can't make at home or get at work. Again this could have just been an off day for them but for having such a high reputation I was sad that the food wasn't what I...

If you're a fan of pies or even if you just appreciate good food, then a visit to Lauretta Jeans pie shop is an absolute must. From the moment you walk in, you'll be greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked pies and super friendly staff that's always ready to help.
The first thing that catches your eye when you enter is the sheer variety of pies available. Whether you're in the mood for a classic banana creme or a more adventurous flavor like Honey Peanut Chocolate, you'll find it here. And the best thing is that each pie is made with the freshest, highest quality ingredients, ensuring that every bite is bursting with flavor.
One thing that really stood out to me about Lauretta Jeans was the attention to detail that goes into each pie. The crusts are perfectly flaky and gorgeous! and the fillings are for the most part the ideal balance of sweet and tart. I just wish the banana creme has more actual bananas! There was only three slices of banana in our slice. But the coconut lime was loaded with coconut and an epic Graham cracker crust! So It's clear that the bakers at Lauretta Jeans take pride in their work and are committed to producing the best pies possible.
Another thing that I appreciated about Lauretta Jeans was the cute cozy, welcoming old school atmosphere. The shop is decorated with charming vintage touches and there's plenty of seating available inside and out, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy your pie. And if you're in a rush, you can always order your pie to go and savor it later.
Overall, I can't recommend Lauretta Jeans enough. The pies are truly exceptional and the experience is one that you won't soon forget. If you're ever in Portland, be sure to stop by and treat yourself to some of the...
Read moreWe ordered a slice of quiche and a slice of tart cherry pie, both warmed. When the server dropped the order at our table I was surprised- the quiche looked great and was an adequate slice, and was in one piece, but the cherry pie was the smallest sliver of pie that I was ever seriously offered. It was maybe 1 1/4” at the top, and 3 1/2” long and kind of squashed on the plate, like it was the last crumbs in the pan that were scooped out and plopped on the plate. My husband said it was tasty, but wanted another slice since this sliver was like three bites. I didn’t want to wait in line again to order another slice and so politely let a person at the counter know that the slice of pie was just a sliver and approximated the size with my hands. She said that the tart cherry pies were smaller. I asked, this small? and showed the approximate size with my hands. She offered me two cookies which I accepted and then we left. On the way out I saw the tart cherry pies in the case and they were the similar in size to the other pies in the case. I don’t know what the issue with the standards are at this pie shop, and I can’t imagine serving something like the smashed sliver of pie to anyone, but if I did, and they brought it to my attention, I sure wouldn’t offer such a obviously false reason. Maybe this was the last bit in the pan and they didn’t want to cut into a new pie? Who knows? The whole reason we called ahead and drove across the river was to get a slice of tart cherry pie for my husband, who had read about the butter crust, and was really looking forward to a slice of the best pie in Portland. How...
