This food cart pod is called the Hinterland Cart Pod, or more formally named the Hinterland Bar & Food Carts. It had a nice big seating area, all open and pretty clean. Matt's BBQ Tacos is located toward the back of the food cart pod, very Texan looking, as they serve Texas-style BBQ. You order from the touch screen by the serving window, or you can order from their website. The wait time is shown above it, and as it is a popular spot, the wait time can go up significantly in a matter of minutes. You get a text when your order is ready, which is convenient. We got three different kinds of tacos to start. Chopped Beef Taco Supreme, Chopped Brisket Breakfast Taco, and Brisket Taco. The tacos were all very tasty, with tender, juicy meat. It was packed with flavor, with a nice note of smokey flavor. The tacos are not big, and after sharing the three tacos between the two of us, we decided to get two more tacos since my hubby was still a bit hungry for more. We went with more breakfast tacos, Sausage Patty and Hashbrown Taco, and Pulled Pork Breakfast Taco. We enjoyed all the breakfast ones. I especially loved the hashbrown one, it was so good! Everything we had from Matt's BBQ Tacos were pretty good, although our second order of two tacos took forever as the wait time was nearly one hour. That tells you they are super popular!

Honestly not a fan.... Visiting into Portland I had been waiting to try this place my whole trip. Got there then realized you can only order online, so we did. Waited and waited and waited. Apparently you have to go up and ask when it's ready instead of -----> standing right in front of the window in plain sight? This place is expensive and the tacos are small. We spent $23 and were still hungry afterwards. We ordered 4 tacos and 2 of each sauce: Chopped brisket, sliced pork belly, pulled pork, turkey and guac to completed our order. The pork belly and Turkey and guac were absolutely phenomenal! The pulled pork and brisket we both did not care for at all.... The area surrounding Matt's Bbq Taco's is very trashy to be honest. Homeless people digging threw trash cans right next to the outdoor seating. We were bothered several times by some homeless people while here.

Matt's cart (and sterling reputation) have moved to the recently opened Hinterland pod on SE 50th. I suspect that the pod's covered seating and central bar service will work out very well for them. Ordering can be done online, or via a pseudo online touchscreen attached to the cart - I suspect that this is good for keeping up with demand, as well as being an effective pandemic protocol. As for the food (finally!), it was well worth the wait for my first visit. Choosing somewhat randomly from the menu, I went with a Pulled Pork taco, as well as the Beef Supremo. If a fast food item was redesigned and made with actual quality ingredients, you'd get the Beef Supremo. This was a fascinating exercise, but it was the Pulled Pork that will bring me back - the pork came with guacamole and pickled onions that proved to cap it off perfectly. Matt's tacos are truly special.

After seeing Matt's BBQ Tacos on Netflix's Street Food, we tackled on this as a stop on our Portland trip for a dinner.

PARKING - There's street parking in the residential areas. We parked about a block away and walked on over to this small pod of businesses.

SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There's a bar/brewery, and about 4 other food trucks with a seated area for you to enjoy your meals. We ordered ahead online, which I would highly recommend as there was a decent line when we got there, but it looked like people were still waiting on their orders. Some tacos online suddenly disappeared and were no longer available from the start of our order to when we checked out. They have to-go sauce containers, but I had to ask them to refill as they were all empty when we got there.

FOOD - Chopped Brisket Breakfast Taco ($5.50): WOW. I was not expecting the Brisket to be as delicious, tender, flavorful as it was!!! It was absolutely amazing, and they definitely didn't skimp out either! I was savoring each chunk of meat but all good things come to an end - wish I had 2 more of these!!

Migas Taco ($5.50): Tasted like a egg scramble with some pico mixed in. Wasn't my favorite out of the bunch.

Pork Belly Breakfast Taco ($5.50): Really nice flavor and char on the Pork Belly! It wasn't super fatty like most Pork Belly pieces are, but I was OK with that!

Hashbrown ($2.00): My boyfriend got it for the novelty and it was actually not bad! Nice and crispy on the outside - just wish it was a bit thicker.

OVERALL - Solid spot to get your taco fix! Delicious Brisket - be sure to get a taco that has it inside! Hoping to try the tacos that were sold...

A food truck with mighty flavors in their tacos! This was featured in netflix so it was a must stop to check out during our portland trip. It's located in Hinterland Bar & food Carts. The truck is at the end of the row, near their version of indoor/outdoor seating. . The covered outdoor seating has heat lamps. The dining area Was nice and cozy during the day. The seating area have a fair amount of seating, self-serve water, and a modest shelter from the wind and rain. . I ordered the chopped brisket tacos which consist of brisket and guacamole. The brisket was the epitome of juicy. The tortilla were soft and warm. The brisket flavors together was savory delicious. It's safe to say my tastebuds were seredipity! The size of the tacos are surprisingly deceiving as they leave you feeling a healthy full. . I also got the smoked turkey taco with guacamole and it was pleasing to the presentation. The turkey taco had good chunks of white turkey meat. The taco was refreshing too. I wouldn't have thought about smoked turkey tacos as my second choice but it was great to experience something different. It's great being adventurous s

Street parking since it's near a residential area. The server who handed me my food was nice. The ordering process was a breeze as you order on a tablet located at the front of the truck and they text you when your order is ready. Matt's BBQ Tacos is a revisit when I am craving a snack at the food trucks and l'm looking forward to trying out other creations. Hope this review is helpful and thanks for reading. Have a...
