One of the best bakeries I have experienced in life, and if you have read or trust my other reviews, that's saying a lot. The atmosphere is extremely chilled, and feels like you have entered into a new area in SE. The entire place has beautiful displays that showcase the food well. And the pastries and baked good: they are extremely delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion you get. I have never had a chocolate croissant with so much chocolate in it in my entire life. Everything I got here was very well made, and any baked item with stuffed ingredients had a ton of those ingredients. No one is skimping on anything here. Both sweet and savory items are delicious here. Coffee is very good here, and so is the hot chocolate (I love hot chocolate). There is one area to the right, after you enter, where you order and can have items to go. There is one area to the left where you can sit. I have never sat in the left area. The staff is very professional, relaxed, and pleasant. Overall, if you are looking for one single bakery recommendation from me, this would be it. You all know how much I love Little T. You won't go wrong with Little T, but you'll never go wrong with Petite Provence.

I'll start with the pros, then the cons. Pros: Great environment. Comfortable seating with cushions on the chairs. Cool French bakery type setting inside the restaurant. Servers, hostess, and other staff were very friendly and came by to check on me. Customer service was good. Also the almond croissant was the most almonds filled croissant I've ever had. Very good ppastry. Cons: I had the salmon croissant eggs Benedict with avocado 🥑. I couldn't taste the hollandaise sauce. It needed more flavor enhancer i.e. lemon juice. Idk if there's seasoning that ever goes in hollandaise but that'd be good too. Idk if the sauce is from a packet or made in house. The poached eggs were perfectly poached. My first bite of salmon was super fishy, but after the first bite it was mellow and tasted good, just kind of bland. The hashbrowns were perfect as well with a nice crunchy exterior. The salmon eggs Benedict has potential, it was just bland and flavorless, so I asked for some lemon wedges which helped add flavor. This was my first time going and I'd recommend 5 out of 5 going for the pastries and the experience.

01/08/2022: 4.0 out of 5 - It has been awhile since I came to Petite Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. A few of us from my Saturday running group showed up. The establishment had changed its table layout, and a few other things. However, the place was still impressively clean and the table layout does seem to allow more seating. It was as noisy as it usually is, but we didn't have to yell or text across the table to have a conversation. The staff were friendly and very professional. Clean, attentive, quick and responsive without the intrusion. Now the food and drinks. What can I say? It was okay. It was plated nicely, but the taste seemed bland. Not like how it was, considering I've ordered many of the items on Petite Provence's menu in the past. All in all, at the end of any meal I often will ask, "Would you come back?" My answer if given the opportunity? Most likely since the staff are great, and the establishment doesn't partake in any for of discrimination. So, if you ever get a chance, try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

Updated August 2024 Petite Provence has kept its place at the top of my list of favorite places for breakfast, and it's probably the spot where I've impressed the most visitors to the city. They maintain a smallish menu, making sure everything on offer is done flawlessly. It's also a terrific place to grab a bag full of pastries to go, or get a special loaf of bread. Everything about this place makes me wonder why I let too much time go by between visits. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ You can get it all here - breakfast, sandwiches, coffee, pastries (not just for breakfast anymore), bread to go. Regardless of what you choose, it's all good. My wife's all-time favorite tuna sandwich is the one that you'll find here. The breakfasts are the part of the menu that I enjoy the most. It's been quite a while since I've had dinner here - I always enjoyed their light menu, but a look at their web site shows that they've expanded the dinner offerings quite a bit. All in all, this remains one of my favorite spots on Division, regardless of the time of day.

A nice place to find French pasteries and to grab a bite to eat. You will find a wide range of pasteries, desserts, breads and cakes. I selected a Caramel Walnut Roll, a Marionberry Cheese Croissant, a Raspberry Croissant, a Pain au Chocolate and a Marionberry Mini Macaroon. The Caramel Walnut Roll was really sweet and had good taste. The Raspberry Delight Croissant was big and filled with mascarpone and raspberry ganache. It was very good. The Pain au Chocolate was a flaky sweet pastry and had good taste. I would suggest you arrive early as the pastries sell out fast. Located on SE Division and 48th street in Portland. Petite Provance and La Provance have a number of locations. Parking is limited to the side streets. A nice place to stop for a wide selection of French pasteries, desserts, cakes and desserts with friendly service. You will also find a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with U-Bake items such as Croissants and Cinnamon Rolls for sale.

07/15/17: 4.5 out of 5 - It's been January since my last visit, but our server, Gus, was great with service and the food tasted great as usual. Probably be back sooner. 01/21/17: 4.0 out of 5 - Okay it's been awhile and unfortunately, the service has room for improvement. The server could have been more attentive and at the very least, give me some water and a coffee refill after I asked for it. Besides that, the food was consistent. Hopefully, it'll be better next time. 07/23/16: 4.5 out of 5 - Wow! As many times I've been here, I've not ever written a review for this Petite Provence. Well, I must say, since my last visit there were new faces, but they provided great service. Food presentation looked good and the taste to go with it. The place was busy as usual, but my Saturday run group didn't have to wait too long. Definitely would recommend trying this place once and decide for yourself.
