Last year I came to this coffee shop during a schizophrenic episode and I forgot where I was living during that time. I was on the streets starving and cold for 6 days. I came in and asked the barista for hot coffee because I was finally waking up and trying to remember where I was living or I wanted to call someone. And she said “sorry I can only give you hot water”. I think about this everyday I pass this store. You really couldn’t add beans to hot water and give it to me when I clearly looked out of it and looked like I was on the streets for days. This is what happens when you have a store in a rich white neighborhood. You start forgetting what life actually means and you behave that way. I went to Urbana and they gave me a muffin and hot coffee. The cashier there was Asian, which means they have empathy and the heart to help people without asking about anything. Everyday I pass this store and look at everyone inside and think about how they should be supporting another place. I can actually write an essay about how this place is one of the pits of hell on earth. I hope this comment helps you stay less...
Read moreBased on first impression, this place is pretty mid. I would have expected better service and quality with the reviews being so highly rated, but we just didn't get that experience. Maybe its what we ordered and the possibility of there being a shift change that made it that way, but within the 10 minutes that we ordered two drinks and a biscuit they had forgotten part of our order and it wasn't until we said something that they finished the order. The drinks weren't anything to be impressed by neither; they lacked flavor and so did the biscuit. They did however give a coupon for a complimentary drink for the next time you go in, but the whole process of finishing the order literally took less than a minute, so it was confusing why we waited so long in the first place. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but you'd get better service and more flavorful items from the nearest Starbucks for the...
Read moreAfter moving out of Ardea my favorite coffee shop opens right there. The Cafe is a new ground up build. I went the morning after the grand opening and everything was stocked and fully staffed. The interior design and color scheme of the cafe is amazing. The place is clean and modern and all their equipment is top notch. They didn't skip out. The floor is all raised paneling and even the tables have their logos etched. If it's your first time, get the pistachio latte with toasted marshmallow whipped cream, their breakfast biscuit and a fresh baked scones. The owners were there and said they will be have a plethora of nitro coffee in the comming weeks. They also have the advanced pour over station. I believe the only one...
