Thanks. It was great until check out. Word of warning, DO NOT forget or leave anything behind in the your room. With everything weighing so heavy on your mind as you are trying to get your family and all your belongings packed up and out so I can finally begin to deal with your poor unfortunate child's need, whatever those needs may be. Don't dare forget anything in the middle of all this, unfortunately you will never see whatever it was again. Bye bye. My oldest son unfortunately diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He took an emergency helicopter ride almost 300 miles in the middle of the night to Portland, while his little brother, grandpa, mother, and I took of on the spur of the moment to follow by car. We were very sloppily packed as it was done so quickly. Fortunately and thankfully The Ronald McDonald house was able to help us an take us in, almost just as quickly. Unfortunately however because of i think covid-19 our experiance here, at Dornbechers, and on the sky car espeshally seem very cold. Ppl seemed not to care or try to b helpful at all an treated us more like a nuisance then the family of a Patent who has just been diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma. When we finally were able to check out we left in a disorganized mess an forgot several important things behind. We called the next day and explained the situation and were assured our things would be ready to be picked up when we had to return to town for chemotherapy in just another 2weeks. We were told that although we would be staying someplace else our things would be waiting for us to come claim them however, when we returned nobody seemed to know what we were talking about nor could our belongings be located at all. They took our phone number and said they would call when they figured it out an located our stuff but as of 2day....... still no word. We are out of sight, out of mind I suppose.... still waiting to hear...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience staying here while I was in the hospital and our newborn was in NICU. The staff was friendly and supportive. The families form a community since we are all experiencing similar challenges. The hotel provides a hot meal in the morning. There's always scrambled eggs with toppings, oatmeal, cold cereal, waffles, juice, hot drinks, bagels, toast, cheese slices, fruit, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, milk, and juices. They alternate offering bacon, sausage patties, andouille, biscuits and gravy. Volunteers bring family friendly snacks, baked goods and dinner most nights of the week. Families don't need to stress about starving little ones while running back and forth to the hospital. This charity provides incredible help to...
Read moreThis place was the absolute biggest blessing to my family and I when one of my sons needed immediate heart surgery when he was born. The friendliness of every staff member, and volunteer, touched my heart. Even the other families you see in passing through out the building, everybody is kind to eachother. The grab and go breakfast options was so very helpful. There are so many great options to entertain little ones, which made the days so much easier to navigate. The sweet stuffed animals I got to pick for my twins and hand made blankets are items I hope they treasure forever. My family and I could have never navigated the complicated medical journey we faced with our son if it wasn’t for the support we received here. Thank you all SO much. I am...
