I would like to preface this review by saying I was a barista myself for about six years. I normally don’t leave negative reviews and I know customers can be annoying and food service is a challenging atmosphere. However, the questions I asked when ordering were met with rudeness and condescension. They were normal questions for a customer to ask and questions a barista should know the answer to.
On 10/21 at 10:30am I asked the barista what the pastries were in the case (there were no signs). They paused as if I was asking them a stupid question, and reluctantly answered. I asked what size their drinks were. Again, answered the same way. I then ordered a vanilla latte and asked how sweet their drinks are - do they tend to run on the sweet side like Starbucks? Or do they have a stronger espresso flavor? Again, a very normal question for a customer to ask and one I had no problem answering when I was a barista. The barista, in a very condescending tone, said “well, the more sweetener you put in a drink, the sweeter it will be.” I was a bit shocked by their rude response and condescending tone, but maintained a friendly and polite demeanor throughout the entire interaction.
The other barista finally stepped in to help. I think the initial barista I interacted with was new? Based on the way the other barista answered. They said to their coworker “this is how I would answer that question” and then looked at me and said “our drinks our more coffee-forward and we try not to mask the taste of the coffee.” I thanked them and said this was the answer I was looking for.
I was really looking forward to trying this coffee shop, because I live in the area and I have heard good things. I’m honestly not sure if I will be going back. While the food and coffee were great, the attitudes of their staff leave much...
Read moreFirst time drinker, Big Liker. Great music made me feel like a hobbit cowboy, decor made me feel like a farmhouse fairy dreaming galactic dreams, big windows made me feel like I was at the lake, great coffee made me savor the flavor of my mouth, tasty pastries on pretty little plates, tiny tables made me feel like I was at a kindergarten parent-teacher meeting, ET was giving me the stink finger from the corner next to Mike Wasowski rolling his eye. Small space, well-designed. Comfortably full but not crowded. People working, reading, and chatting. No strangers talked to me ( ): ) Plenty of seating both inside and out. Wifi strong. Had no trouble parking and it was free. Crazy bathroom. A little chilly. Felt like there should be a sauna but there wasn't. No real negatives other than that. Would love...
Read moreCan’t wait to roast this place, pun very much intended. I came in to make a business transaction to buy beans. Online you can buy 3 lbs. Perhaps it’s my mistake for not calling in advance to confirm that would be the case in the cafe also. After patiently waiting for 3 baristas to serve one customer a cold brew, while taking what appeared to be pleasure in making me wait, I asked if I could get a discount for buying bulk, I was basically poor shamed out of the shop, “yeah, beans are pretty expensive huh?” with full attitude intended. No, I will not pay $26 per 12 oz bag for 48 oz of coffee nor does that even make sense. Anyway, I’ll never know what a cup of puff tastes like, but I assume it tastes like perfect hair and pretentiousness. I prefer funky and fruity myself....
