The Nest Lounge — Restaurant in Portland

I had heard they allow dogs on the patio, and wanted to check it out, so I went there one Friday night back in late January/early February. When I went in, I sat at the bar and waited to be served. A woman was standing next to me, also waiting for drinks. I asked her if she had ever brought a dog to the patio, and if she knew the system (i.e. can you enter through the patio or not). She told me she didn’t know, it was her first time there. I told her it was my first time too, and that was the end of that.

It was a friendly conversation, but apparently the bar tender disagreed. As soon as the woman walked away the bar tender told me that if I had any questions I could ask her, and not to “bother” the other customers. This is a BAR, mind you, yet she was acting like it was a library and I had caused a serious disturbance. There was no reason to believe the other woman had been “bothered” by me. The bartender was surly and unfriendly towards me the rest of my time there, though she was perfectly friendly to two regulars sitting nearby (indicating it was not just a bad mood). Went out for my friends birthday. We are all 21-23. Went up to the bar and got ignored for 10 mins. I’m not exaggerating. The male bartender with dark long hair was bartending. He checked my ID and bent it a lot. Ok, fine. Checked my friends ID and immediately said it was fake. Ok, it’s him when he’s 16, fair. My friend said it wasnt fake, and instead of asking him about the information on the card, or even just asking us to leave cordially, he started yelling at us and then everyone else in the bar started too. He passed his ID to someone random in the bar and she joined in saying how fake it was and then everyone promptly started yelling at us about our clothing and to get out. We immediately called the police who did not show up, so we were outside from 10:30-1am waiting for them. My friend finally went inside and asked them for it back and told them he called the cops and had been waiting for around 2 hours. He apologized and gave it back. Incredibly unprofessional and left my friends birthday in a terrible mess....

Don’t open a tab here they will steal from you after you already closed out by closing the system and giving you a paper receipt that they can change. I closed my tab after tipping 50% gratuity because I was feeling generous tis the season even though the bartender was awful. She refused to print me a receipt told me that I had to dm the instagram to get a receipt when they were still open. She just didn’t want to give me a receipt and I knew she was going to try something I just had a gut feeling. I already left a bad review explaining the attitude of the female bartender with short brown hair mid weight but turns out she went back into the system and tipped herself 175% gratuity without my permission. She needs to be talked to by management because everything else was chill besides her and she’s putting the business in a position where they can get audited for fraud.
