I wanted to love this place! ;.( Mexican & south American food is one of our entire favorites! Asian, fao' de chap, El gaocho ,even the occasional taco bell , muchos & Rigaburrtos taco shop. You can appreciate all spectrums. NOT HERE NOT ON MAY 5th! The bar tender was the only one working hard at quality at this place! I Only give this place one star bc of decor and the manager took the positive & negatives well along w/ cutting the bill of the terrible cinco de mayo meal in half. The only thing GREAT THING was the TACO PASTOR! "Yummmmy!" & the drink we each had which $32. For 2 good drinks , 2 good tiny tacos. & a full kid w/ a coloring page that works I guess... The enchilada($5) was the size of a taquito horrible meat, no flavor, dry & almost nothing in there . We ordered close to one of every taco and for $4. Each it was dry cheap quality barely anything on them and the crunchy shells were worse than the store. This kids meal was okay($6) plus we added the ($3) side of chicken which was better but still sub-par than the taco chicken. The mini-chimi's were on special for $9. Usually $12. Mini was all got IV'E HAD BETTER FROZEN!!!.Hardely any meat and all rice w some bean. THE WORST THINGS LIST: Fish taco = 1 tiny droplet of fish that was super dry & like a cat treat on cabbage n decent sauce. I have never seen one this bad in town!!! Sever: It was like she and the others had seen this disappointment before bc we got no service or eye contact as soon as we stopped eating the bad food. Resteraunt Standards: I flagged down a kitchen helper and when I asked him and the manager if this was normal for the food to be like this and showed him the single dry fish droplet taco, and showed them the taquito next to the supposed "enchilada" they said thats how its normally served. The manager said ; "its not what's on the outside its what's on the inside" I as a foodie completely agree but if there's next to nothing on the inside and its dry and tasteless then why is it not on the 2 for a dollar taco menue at Jack in the Box??? Most people I saw ordered burritos and we saw a nacho that looked good too. I would try those but for the price I would rather pay more at a high end place and get good food or go to muchos gracias and get what u pay for. We left La Careta on McLaughlin before we got there bc of the slow service and the tacky valentines decor. At least w/ there portions even tho it's all canned u leave full . Rico's for 2 drinks , 1 soda, kids meal add chicken, mini chimi's, 5 tiny tacos , 1 ity-bitty enchilada = $64.00 without tip!!! My sons father asked where his other taco was it was so little. I hope they were just busy for May 5th. According to the staff maybe not. After talking to the manager he assured me it was . He was nice and polite and took the positive and negative feedback well. I might come back just too see of he was right. Plus the ambiance, music, air flow w/ the awesome windows, cleanliness, small simple menue, creative watermelon soup special is really great. The most important thing is quality. Charge through the nose that's fine, but it better be tasty right. I made enough at home to feed 5 people for $20. The following day with all the same menu items just for fun and it turned out way better and it made me pretty sad for the business. I hope its better next time. Sorry for the long review. I just thought u should know . I will post pictures to come from my...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for years for both personal and business meals as I work nearby. I’ve always recommended this place to family and friends but unfortunately I just can’t anymore. My last few visits over the last year been riddled with inconsistencies and long waits.
Against my partners discretion we came this weekend with her cousin. The place was not busy at all in comparison to other times that I’ve come. We got our drinks ordered. Nothing too complicated as we skipped the cocktails this time and got bottled soda and drinks on tap. I never got my drink. I did ask several times if I could get it. But in the end it never came at which point I asked the server to disregard my drink altogether since we just wanted to leave.
As for the food. My partners cousin asked for limes but it took several reminders to actually get them. She also asked for sour cream (which they charged $ for) all this while her food was getting cold. She did ask the limes and sour cream when we placed our order. We also got the California burrito which we all agreed tasted fishy and ended up tossing. Finally we got an order of nachos and per usual upgraded to the pollo asada. The nachos came with shredded chicken. The server asked if we wanted fresh ones or if we wanted to keep those and they’d bring a side of the chicken we ordered. To make it easier for everyone we chose to get the chicken on the side since she offered that option. We figured it’d be fairly quick. You know because that option was offered to us and most people understand that a meal is eaten together. Guess again it took 20 plus minutes to get the correct chicken. We didn’t even end up touching that or the shredded chicken that came with the nachos. Ugh. Disaster.
All this happened and to have to pay for this service/quality was unfortunate. Luckily this bill was under $50 this time. Most times our bills are double or triple that amount and we’ve been getting worse and worse service/ food quality every visit which is why I was inclined to leave...
Read moreThe family was on a road trip from Seattle to LA and we broke the journey in between at Portland Oregon. We were hungry and wanted to eat some tasty mexican spicy food. My son searched for this place and although it was a bit inside from I5, we were glad we went to Rocio’s.
The restaurant is located in a residential area but it was very cozy, Very warm very welcoming, on a cold rainy day. Kenny, the Manager was welcoming gave us hot Corn chips with salsa and when i asked for extra spicy salsa, he obliged and gave us one that was really really spicy. We added guacamole to the appetisers list, and then all four of us ordered individual dishes for ourselves.
Me and my daughter ordered the carne asada and chicken combo burrito, which was dry, spicy and hot. You add guacamole and some of the spicy salsa, it was a meal worth remembering. Yum, Yum!!
My wife had Shrimp Diablo, with the spicy sauce and my son had the carne asada tacos. Each one of us completely demolished the plate, and we are not sure if it was because we were hungry or because the food was that tasty. My wife also had the margarita, the classic one and she really enjoyed it. And she has a high bar for margaritas. All in all a great place to visit, have a chat with Kenny, the manager, and enjoy really good well-made fresh...
