Chili Rellenos. I've had their food twice now, and the 1st time I had Biria (excellent - I'd never had it) because they were out of chili rellenos for another 40 minutes.

I went at lunch, and the place was packed, so I took a bite in the car, then took it home to keep hot, putting it back in the pan three times

By far the largest relleno I'd ever seen, well battered, not too thick - just a thin omelet that didnt fall off the pepper, which, wasn't overcooked at all, and there was a TON of cheese.

I ate this first one dry, but I can see buying these for making at home with some amazing sauces.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I've driven by hundreds of times without stopping. Come here. The lava flow of cheese is worth an hour drive from the coast or...

One of the best restaurants in East Portland. It can be difficult to navigate if you don't speak Spanish, as none of the stews are labeled and there seem to be a lot of options for different combinations. Just point at whatever looks good and ask for a plate with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. Add whatever side dishes look good, like blistered jalapenos or the veggie medley. If you're an adventurous eater they have great offal guisados.

There are a couple of kinds of tamales and the chile relleno are killer especially when fresh. They've downsized the tienda part of the store but pick up a liter of Mineragua and go to town on the salsa bar while you eat. The older couple that work here are...

I love this place and I now specifically have it bookmarked for future visits to Portland. There is food displayed for customers to visually enjoy and get an idea of what is available. Omg, the smell alone is enough to get one salivating. I was so excited seeing that they served grilled and salted jalapeños. I ordered the tamales combo and enjoyed each bite. The chips and Guacamole is an essential to have with your meal. The horchata is a bit watered down but it is refreshing to have on the side with a hot meal. There is covered seating with a mural along the wall that is a great way to pass time as you chew. Such friendly service and I felt right at home there. Great...

So glad to have Salsas Locas in the Reed/Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood! They have a ton of options to choose from, whether you want something “small” like a taco or a meal for the whole family. The jalapeño salsa is my favorite, and so far I’ve tried a couple different tacos, tamales, and a taco bowl. All have been great! Take it to go or eat on their heated, covered outdoor patio.

Today I decided to try some tamales after much curiosity, since I regularly visit the business next door. Happy with my choice! YUM!! Almost finished eating (asked for “the works” with hot sauce & a nice cold Jarrito) until I realized: THIS level of mouthwatering excellence? deserves a photo! There is also a market with some home essentials. 🇲🇽🥰
