Tahrir Square — Restaurant in Portland

I've been here a few times for the great food for good prices but last night was the first time I saw how great the employees are under stress. In the cacophony of generators, power outages, and a gentle haze of wildfire smoke, they were churning out gyros and wraps for crowds when a mixup occurred with a delivery order. After waiting twice as long for an order that would ordinarily take a max of 5-10 minutes, the cashier checked in on our beeper, realized what happened, then went above and beyond to correct the mistake. They immediately whipped up our order, including a delicious spare gyro from the mixup, and made sure we were okay after the wait with some waters. In general, you learn the most about people when they make mistakes and we learned Tahrir Square not only makes very tasty food, but also makes things right when everything else goes wrong. Visiting from the East Coast, and after recovering from decision paralysis from all of the food truck options, I do not regret choosing this place one bit. The food was delicious. I had no idea what to get, but the guy running the show, recommended the lamb Shawarma with a side of hummus and pita. I couldn’t be happier. I have driven past this place hundreds of times and finally decided to give it a try today.

First impression was the huge quantity! It's so nice to pay for a meal and get 1-2 servings out of it in this economy. It was an off time, but they were still very quick.

I got a lamb Gyro and it was delicious. The lamb was tender and VERY flavorful.
