🇺🇸 Portland: A Seafood Spot Serving Delicious Stinky Hot Pot 😋

I've frequented Rockin' Crab countless times, and their kimchi hot pot remains a steadfast favorite. Unlike others that water down the kimchi flavor, here, every bite bursts with the rich tang of gochujang, from the first spoonful to the last. Packed with pork, kimchi, clams, squid, fish egg ball, shrimp, mushrooms, and tofu, it's a flavor explosion served alongside a steaming bowl of rice. Simply delicious. However, the same cannot be said for their appetizers. The fried oysters arrived heavily breaded and overcooked, atop a bed of cold, underseasoned fries accompanied by an extremely sour tartar sauce. Equally disappointing were the potstickers—overcooked and excessively salty, with a dipping sauce so sweet even my kids weren't fans. Sadly, these appetizers fall short of the quality of the hot pot. On a brighter note, the wait staff at Rockin' Crab shines with their friendly and attentive service, adding a pleasant touch to the dining experience. Overall, Rockin' Crab offers a mixed bag—while the kimchi hot pot is a standout dish worth returning for, the inconsistency in the quality of appetizers leaves room for improvement.

Waited for almost half an hour and no one took our order or even came to our table. This location is always so slow compared to their other location which is now closed down. Asked three times for our order to be taken and the waitress asked where were sitting... They are always short on staff, saw numerous other people trying to track down the server as well. Last time we came my husbands fish was burned, we asked for it to be recooked (again had to track down waitress because she never came back to check on us) and then we all got our food, finished eating, and we were still waiting for his fish. We got his fish all the time at the other location and it’s usually very quick. I honestly think they forgot about it because we had to ask TWO more items for it and they kept saying it was coming... I think whoever owns this business is having issues retaining staff because they are always understaffed and this makes me question their business ethic... I only say this because one employee was telling us how it was their last day and they were so excited to leave.

UPDATE: service gets worse each time we go, still some language barriers as well as not being checked on after receiving food. Seems the division street location is permanently closed so now only one location. The crab continues to be good though, but prices were raised this last time we went and are now crazy expensive (cheap to get shrimp but the snow crab which is usually cheapest and in the $20’s is now $40). Everyone at the table thought we misheard the waitress and asked 3 times for the price and she actually had to write it on the table (we thought she was saying $14) when she wrote $40 we were all shocked. I asked if it was crab season (since that’s when crab prices are lower) and she said it was. So no idea why it would be so high. It will probably be even worse in the winter. Haven’t...

I live in Bend so I have to drive 3 hours to get to any seafood boil. I’ve been to “my brothers crawfish”, “bag o crab” and here. Every time I plan on getting seafood boil, I always call and check to see if they have live crawfish (as frozen isn’t very good). This place has live Louisiana crawfish, live dungenous crab and live clams! The portions were huge and it is cheaper than the other 2 places I mentioned above, for live! (The other places were more expensive for frozen seafood)

The sauce for the seafood boil was AMAZING! It was so good and strong, I will say however it is sweet, it’s definitely a good sweet and I wouldn’t have it any other way. However if you are into seafood boils that are just garlic and butter etc. then you won’t like it. This is very Cajun and very good but it might not be for everyone.

Service was GREAT, Daniel was our server and he is very personable and funny. He gives great service (which honestly is unlike the other 2 seafood places bc the service there wasn’t the best)

When I come back to Portland, I will definitely only be going here from now on for my seafood boils, it’s live, cheaper and better service. Oh and the sauce at the other 2 places weren’t as...

I was really excited to try this place I love crab, but this time me and my wife wanted to go out of our ordinary so we bypassed the crab boils that were very unimpressive to began with you have to pay for the crab separately from the boil..

So my wife got the rockin shrimp plate which she said tastes really good but alot left to be desired besides having to cut the tails off before eatting if it wasn't for the rice she would have still been hungry so that was her only complaint

As for me.. well I got the catfish basket, played it safe and thought you can't really mess up fried fish???? Well let me tell you I was wrong about that they brung me fried cornmeal with the smallest pieces of fish inside of them so I all I really ate was cornmeal I literally had to peel off the breading..

So during the middle of our day date we ordered CRAB PUFFS.. lol biggest mistake ever they were not crab puffs they were sweet cream cheese wontons they were like a dessert they were sooo sweet, but still brung sweet and sour sauce...

Honestly it was laughable but me and the misses laughed and ate so date was ok but food.. let's just say the best thing we had were our drinks.. (water for me and Thai...
