We had reservations for 2 people at 11:30. We arrived on time at 11:30, and were told they were a little behind schedule and would seat us as soon as possible. We waited on the front lawn of the restaurant with several other groups of people, all waiting for their names to be called. Finally, we were called in at 12:10, forty minutes after our reservation time. They did give us coffees while waiting outside in the cold. Also, while waiting outside, we couldn’t help but notice the constant run of takeout orders being fulfilled while several groups of people were patiently waiting to dine inside the restaurant. There seemed to be at least eight different takeout orders, most of which contained three to four takeout containers each.
We were one of five tables in our dining room area, and it took at least thirty minutes for our food to come out. Again, we noticed the takeout orders constantly being delivered out the door, but slow in-house service for those dining inside. Our apple cider mimosa and Bloody Mary were good, however, my paper straw sucked up a tomato piece that got lodged into the straw, blocking any liquid from coming up. After, trying to dislodge the tomato piece from my now soggy straw, it became unusable. The food was decent, but the portions were not huge, compared to other breakfast restaurants we have been to.
Parking is a bit tricky here because it is a tiny lot for a very busy place. To add to the difficulty of parking in the tiny lot, there were cars that were picking up takeout that made their own temporary spots. There were even diners who parked wherever they could in the lot. The worker on the phone mentioned parking on the side street that was across the street could end up being the best option if the lot was full. Clearly, many people take this recommendation because we saw at least four other groups of people park on the same street as us and walk across the busy road to the restaurant.
I am not sure if I went on the wrong day (Sunday) or if went at the wrong time (11:30), but we did not have the best experience. I would like to recommend that the restaurant do something to modify their reservation policy or takeout policy to ensure they don’t make customers with reservations wait for forty minutes outside to finally sit down. Perhaps they were taking too many customers than they could handle, fulfilling way too many takeout orders, or letting people check in after their reservation time, etc. While this wasn’t the best experience, the workers did seem like they were doing the best they could to quickly deliver food and drinks, clean tables, etc, but the restaurant was too busy to make our...
Read moreI usually wouldn't take the time to write a bad review but this was warranted. The rating on this place was upper 4's and came highly recommended, it was one of the first options that popped up on a Google search for breakfast. We arrived there on a Monday at 10a and it was crowded. We opted to eat outside to avoid the wait and were seated almost immediately. We were given our first cup of coffee, glass of water and utensils. It took roughly 10 minutes before we placed our order, then the waiting game began. I can't say if it was just the outside guests that were abandoned or if that was happening inside as well. Roughly 30-40 minutes went by and our waiter passed our table at least 5-6 times without ever making eye contact or offering us a second cup of coffee. He then stopped at a table near us and explained they were out of potatoes and were offering a substitution. He then turned to us and asked if we overheard the conversation and adjusted our order and said it would be right out. Still no coffee refill. 10 minutes later the party next to us got their breakfast and we just continued to sit there. I seriously thought about grabbing the pot of coffee and serving myself. The party next to us finished their breakfast and was given their bill and we still hadn't been served yet. I was almost at the point of getting up and simply walking away when the waiter came out and apologized and said they would make it right. At this point it was well over an hour, it almost sounded like they had forgotten our order and were scrambling to get it out to us.10 more minutes went by and it finally came out. I had 2 eggs, toast, bacon, sausage and a waffle. We were finally offered a second cup of coffee and the extra butter I had asked for was forgotten so the waiter had to go back in to get that. Everything was ice cold and my eggs were so chilled it was as if my plate came out of a refrigerator. I asked for over medium and they were cooked over hard with no yolk. The toast wasn't toasted long enough and it was just bread at that point. The sausage tasted like it was some cheap heat and serve product and the bacon wasn't much better. By the time I got the butter for the waffle it really didn't matter because the waffle was cold to begin with so the butter wouldn't melt. The waiter did comp our entrees but still charged us for the waffle and beverages. Don't waste your time or hard earned money at this place. The service was terrible and the food...
Read moreFood was delicious, and the variety of GF options was awesome. Our server was very kind and helpful. The restaurant vibe was really weird though; everything was served on paper plates, with plastic utensils & plastic cups, which felt cheap and picnic-y. They also must be throwing out so much waste (a LOT of plastic) for no reason, when they could be using normal, reusable plates/silverware. While our server was wonderful, the owner was very rude to us. I was very excited to try this brunch spot and was extremely disappointed by the way we were treated.
I recently moved to Maine and finally transferred my old driver's license to a ME license. However, it takes several weeks to receive your permanent card in the mail, so the DMV gives you your old ID back (to use as a photo ID) along with a paper temporary ME license. The owner refused to serve me a mimosa, even though I am nearly 24 years old, was presenting my new temp license & accompanying photo ID, and was being very respectful (aka. not causing any kind of scene). My boyfriend (who was allowed to have a mimosa) and I were obviously disheartened by this (especially since I have used the temp license & photo ID at dozens of places since going to the DMV, and never had any issue), and the owner refused to have any sort of discussion over the issue. When I had a sip of my boyfriend's mimosa (again, I'm 23 years old...), she came over and took his drink away from him in front of the whole restaurant, refusing to even discuss the issue with us & just shutting down everything we had to say. I completely understand a restaurant's right to not serve someone alcohol, even when someone presents a valid temporary license & photo ID (with all information matching between the two...), but it was extremely disrespectful to not only shut down our attempts to discuss/reason with her, but also to treat me like I was some 18 year old trying to sneak into brunch with a fake ID. The documentation I provided is state-issued and meant to take the place of a ME photo ID until my permanent card comes in the mail, but she acted like I handed her a piece of note paper with "I am 21" written on it. It was embarrassing and it really ruined our whole experience.
If they start using actual dinnerware to serve their food and the owner begins treating all of their customers kindly and with respect, this place would be perfect. However, my experience here has not left me with a...
