We've been going here (drive-through) every week since they opened. Their fish tacos are Baja-style, and really good. I'm from San Diego, and grew up with delicious Mexican food. When we moved to Portland, I tried every Mexican food place I could find, hoping to find this style of fish taco. Once I tried Victoricos, I stopped looking. I go every Friday for the fish taco special (they have different specials daily), with rice, beans, and a drink for about $9.99.
My husband went through the same search, but for a good meat burrito. He likes their grilled chicken burrito. He also really likes their crunchy beef tacos, but they are a little pricey for what you get (almost $5 each) and, also, most the time we used to order them from the drive-through, they gave us boiled chicken tacos instead, and this made him so sad. And cranky. We would only discover it by the time we got home and couldn't go back because it was too inconvenient with our kid.
We did start checking the food before pulling away from the window, but when there is a long line of cars, there is too much pressure! I wonder if maybe their order button labels were wrong. Anyway, we eventually stopped getting the crunchy beef tacos and it's been a lot less stressful.
I should add that, when we did have a chance to go back for the correct order, they always honored it because I called before going back, and they knew to expect me.
Perhaps a good way to incentivize their employees to quality-check the orders would be to give customers a free IOU for whatever order was messed up. Whether we could go back that day or not. This would also make the customer feel better about 1) losing money and 2) having to drive all the way back for an item and then eat it in the corner all by themselves, while the rest of the family was finished eating and having fun.
But I am glad for...
Read moreOk so I’ll start by saying I absolutely love the food here and I definitely recommend. I come here 2 or 3 times a week. Recently I was able to get my kids to eat here too with the addition of the fry’s. Now with that said my kids only like the seasoned fry’s that sometimes comes in the kids meal. I say sometimes because it’s very inconsistent sometimes we get regular fry’s some times seasoned. I have asked so many time on how to order the seasoned fry’s I’m have been told several times that all I have to do is ask and I will receive seasoned. But even when I ask it’s so inconsistent. It would not be a big deal but I’m paying for a full meal and only receiving half of what I ordered. The inconsistency has forced me to stop purchasing meals for my kids. I may sound ridiculous but my kids what what they want and I want...
Read moreThis place is a step-up from a taco truck with the same flavors and faster orders. That said it may not quite qualify as fast food, because they cook to order and it takes a minute. But it's good food and reliable. [Edit: The last few times I have ordered here the orders have been wrong or poorly made. The other day I ordered a chile relleno burrito and it had only a tiny chile stuffed in one end of the burrito, it was basically just rice and bean and lettuce, no chile, no cheese, no red sauce. And the gristle and cartilage in the beef is getting out of hand. I don't think I'll order here anymore. Victorico's has lost its value. There are many nearby places which...
