I’m sorry but I can’t believe all the positive reviews for this place. I came here with a friend many months ago and had the weirdest/worst dining experience ever.
Right when we walked in, there was no one in there or any music playing. The dude at the counter was obviously watching a movie loud enough for it to be the only thing heard in the dining space. We order our food and sit down. He continues to watch his movie that has apparently reached a part WHERE A WOMAN IS GIVING BIRTH and all you can hear is her screaming. We sit there wondering if we should say something but we have no time as the front door keeps blowing open due to the weather - its worth mentioning that it had this giant sun decoration covered in bells that made a horrible crashing sound every time it opened. The first time it happened, he just looked at us and pointed to the door, silently asking us to shut it as there isn’t an easy way for him to get at it. This would have been fine if it didn’t happen 4 more times.
Our food finally arrives and it is clearly all from canned. The beans tasted like tin and had no other vegetables or salt in them. So did the sauces. The rice wasn’t fresh. I work in kitchens so I promise I’m not just looking for something to criticize needlessly (I mean, we came here because of the reviews!) no fresh veg whatsoever but maybe that’s just what we ordered?
He kept watching his movie.
I forgot to mention, he obviously and absolutely leered at my friend and made 2 inappropriate comments just before we took our seats.
We took our food to go and just dumped it outside at the nearest trash can.
I’m not one to write a negative review and honestly never have but this experience was so foul that I couldn’t handle continuing to see all the positive reviews knowing we had such a negative time. Maybe they’ve improved but I’ll never know because I won’t...
Read moreAs we ascended upon the flowered foyeur, the luminescent ora of the Spicy Spoon (or as I like to call it the Firey Fork) tantalized our senses with a cocktail of spices and aromas akin to those of which I assume Heaven would eminate. My compadre requested the Chilaquiles while I opted for the Wet Burrito of the pulled pork genus. With a side of fried plantains to round out the feast, we ambled to our shaded, umbrella guarded table. After discussing the teachings of Guru Ram Dass briefly but fulfillingly, my comrade's meal arrived. Eggs, beans and covered tortilla... mounding with sensuality. Followed soon by my Wet Burrito, we sat in silence praising any deity we could fathom, blessed by this sacred combination of nutrients. Dopamine flooding our brains, salivating like fiends, our plantains arrived. We were so engulfed by our immaculately full plates, we had all but forgotten about our side order. The plantains piping hot like molten lava boiling the earth's crust, we ffinally achieved Nirvana. Following the eightfold path to enlightement, we could now rapture forth from this dimension.
Please, fellow sentients, lose yourself in this holy grub. Cast yourselves upon this feast. Peace be...
Read moreI love the food cart vibes with the resturaunt seating. Surprisingly I loved the burrito more than the waffles and I was expecting to like the waffle more given the name. But I will say that the waffles are executed with more finesse - like the flavor combos are interesting. The burrito is a burrito, but I would be devastated if the burrito wasn't on the menu.
New mexico breakfast burrito ⭐⭐⭐⭐ was the perfect size, like actually sizeable had this with bacon eggs were perfectly done didn't love how fatty and chewy some of the bacon was
Georgia peaches and cream ⭐⭐⭐✨ my main gripe was that it was soggy didn't eat this immediately admittedly, has this after half a burrito, but it was a tiny bit too soft for my liking the peaches were super sweet - sort of like canned peaches? the waffle was filled with filling which set this apart for me, it's not a waffle you could easily make at home it was definitely more creative than the burrito though, and executed with...
