China Wok — Restaurant in Portsmouth

Don't come here unless you're a big fan of chicken. No seafood or vegetable dishes. Two beef dishes were subpar, with the beef and mushroom almost being inedible it was so old. Other than that, there is only chicken. The dishes were poorly maintained, and when fresh was brought out, a small order was just dumped in the old dirty pan and mixed together. Additionally, I saw someone come out from the back and fill a to go order off the bar rather than making it to order. Adding insult to injury, the place was busy. With such a small bar, and all of it being the cheapest meat (chicken) there's no excuse to not maintain freshness, or have at least one shrimp item on the buffet. On a Saturday as well. The waiter seemed nice, but the food was extremely disappointing. Especially at $30 for two people. It makes me sad seeing all the good reviews and knowing these people have never had access to quality Chinese food to know the difference. Used to love this place and still crave it almost daily we ate here atleast 3 to 4 days a week! I refuse to eat here again until the buffet opens back up! I called and a guy wkrking there told me food cost and labor went up so theyd have to charge $15 for buffet and they aren't busy enough for that!!! The reason your not busy is bc you arent a buffet anymore and you charge $15 for a very small take out tray! For a family like mine who has picky eaters like my kids and parents like my husband and i who like a little of everything on the buffet its not worth the price for takeout but buffet id gladly pay $15! China Wok is a small Chinese place right next to where I live. I've never ordered off their menu more so I've strictly ate at the buffet. The sad thing is where thier building is small they don't have the widest arrange of options but what they make is awesome and it's not gonna break your wallet. The main waiter is kind and respectful, really quiet and extremely fast, he remembered me coming in the other day just from what I ordered to drink. Also the kitchen staff I caught one and asked if I could have a thing of white rice (my preference to fried) and she was absolutely sweet. The main guy behind the counter taking phone orders is also a great staff member. I only wish they had a larger selection of food to offer (they do rotate it out during lunch and dinner) but giving them a bigger buffet would be killer.
