Sakura Hibachi — Restaurant in Portsmouth

Probably the worst meal I’ve had in a while. Expensive garbage. 33 dollars for one meal and an appetizer is diabolical. Especially when the teriyaki chicken was the worst thing I’ve had in years, for teriyaki chicken you expect a thick glaze with seeds and chives, what I got was a joke, I thought I was being pranked or I thought, maybe they gave me the wrong thing. There was no glaze, no seeds, no chives, it was grilled steamed chicken in little bites, underneath was brown water supposed to be ‘flavorful’ that’s not teriyaki chicken. Now we go to the next thing, they gave me a ‘salad’ which was all inside pieces you’re suppose to throw out, anyway the dressing if you can even call it that was orange water, stop putting drenching water in all of your things, or learn how to make things without drenching the ingredients in water, if you’re unable to do proper ratios in cooking, fine, learn how to do it correctly. To give that ‘ meal’ to someone is not only embarrassing on the ‘chefs’ part, but highway robbery. If I cooked this, I’d first be very ashamed, i’d second learn what I did wrong and third, certainly not give it to someone, unless I didn’t like them. The spring rolls are frozen by the way. Noodles were bland, same brown water underneath, they just love using that brown water huh? Yikes lol. I’m assuming the good reviews are from people who went here years ago and maybe the restaurant was better then, or they’ve never had good food before and they don’t...

Food is okay! Never really had a problem with it until I started ordering the tofu teriyaki dinner box to go. Everytime it’s something different. One day it comes with rice next day it doesn’t. Sometimes it comes with a deep fried mushroom then it doesn’t. Sometimes it comes with the crab salad thing and sushi and sometimes it doesn’t. One day they shorted us 2 salads a soup and charged us for a chicken fried rice that we didn’t order. When we called to tell them they said they would give us credit and didn’t and also told us to come the next day and get the soups and salads so we did. They treated us horribly like we were trying to steal from them. It’s soup and salad. I don’t know why we would steal soup and salad. When we walked in 2 waitresses were talking about us and laughing and as we walked up they just looked at us and stopped talking. Where do I start from? So I use to rave about how good this place was from previous dining. Now fast forward to the last two times eating here.

The cooks ability in the culinary department was lacking to say the least, food had no favor and tasted nasty. Today I went in and asked not to get the same cook I had and guess what, they sent him out to my table and I just looked at the waitress like what’s going on.

She rushes over and explains that they don’t have any other cooks and that the manager is not there. What I should have done was get and walk out of the restaurant but I didn’t. This cook started cooking and right away I knew again that it wasn’t going to be a well received experience.
