Ah, greetings friend—stay a while… and listen.
I recently journeyed to a humble coastal sanctuary in the town of Portsmouth, known far and wide by sailors, scholars, and stomachs alike: Gino’s Chowder and Sandwich Shop.
And by the Horadric Order, what a discovery!
Let me tell you a tale…
Long ago, in the days when my bones didn’t creak and my beard held fewer secrets, I tasted many a chowder across Sanctuary. But none—none!—held the comforting warmth and arcane depth of flavor as the clam chowder at Gino’s. It is no mere soup, oh no. It is a potion of soul-restoring properties. Thick, creamy, brimming with clams as tender as a Tyrael’s whisper, and potatoes as soft as the sands of Lut Gholein.
I had but one spoonful and I felt… rejuvenated. I dare say, it restored more vitality than any healing draught I’ve carried in my satchel.
Now, the rolls—ah, they’re crafted with such care you'd think the artisans were trained in the Vizjerei temples. The lobster roll bursts with the flavor of the sea, as if the Prime Evils themselves had no choice but to flee before its buttery might.
In conclusion... Should you ever find yourself wandering near Gino’s, do not hesitate. Nay, run to this haven. Sit, feast, and let your spirit be mended as surely as if you rested at a well-kept campfire.
This is not simply a meal. It is a legend, etched into the annals of flavor.
So stay a while… and listen to your hunger. Go to Gino’s. You’ll...
Read moreI remember this restaurant from decades ago. I would ride my bicycle," Bicycle! Bicycle! I want to ride my..", oops, past this restaurant on my way to Pierce Island Pool, though I can't remember if Geno's was the name. I even stopped one time for a burger and played with a young boy who had the new Star Wars Creature Cantina. We were both around eight years old. Now for the review. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, medium order of fish chowder and a tossed salad with chicken salad added to it. I had an Ice-cream sandwich for dessert. The chocolate chip cookies were freshly made and big. The food tasted good, though portion to price was small. You have to figure in current price increases in food due to virus, high cost of living in Portsmouth and growing cost of labor. Service was great. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They forgot to add cheese to my sandwich and bring me my chips, but, were quick to correct it. Parking is limited. Reservations are needed. Facemasks are mandatory except when seated. All seating appears to be outside, but, you are under a tarp and not exposed to overhead sun. The view is great! For me, I was going back through memories, included swimming of the coast of the island and watching kids jump from the bridge into the water to beat the heat. ( It's not allowed.) Of course, lobster is available and alcoholic drinks are served. I recommend a visit,...

The jumbo lobster roll was exquisite. Perfectly pulled big pieces of moist, sweet lobster on an delectable buttered roll. The flavor of the lobster, in addition to its sweetness, has a subtle sea freshness, reminiscent of ocean spray. I opted for butter and mayo on the side so I could try both. Refreshingly, they use 100% real melted butter. When poured on the lobster, it adds its rich nutty sweetness to that of the lobster, enhanced by the soft, velvety chew of the roll, subtle hints of salt and the crisp snap of lettuce. The roll is soft on the inside, with a thin, soft, buttered crust. Of note, this is the most expensive sandwich I've ever had and worth every penny and every second eating it.
The lobster stew, with generous pieces of succulent lobster (again, perfectly pulled from the shell), had a warm paprika heat in a cream broth. Finished the broth with crackers. Incredible!
The blue berry pie is very well made, warm with small, hot berries in a slightly sweet blueberry sauce, held together in a crispy, flakey crust. Balanced by the cold vanilla ice cream.
Great view of the river, a nice cool breeze, subtle lapping of waves and the occasional passing boats.
Its probably better to walk here as parking is very limited and the streets are very narrow but I was able to park in their lot, mid-week, an hour...
