This place is a wonderful addition to downtown Portsmouth. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming. The bookstore has a great selection and their bar has drink options for everyone (local brews, N/A, gluten free, etc.). It’s a wonderful spot to go curl up with a good book. Most importantly, they have an adorable, snuggly shop dog who is just the most charming little thing (FYI: They are extremely respectful of people’s comfort and boundaries with dogs. They made sure to ask that I was okay with her hanging out. Once it got a little busier in the shop, they put her safely in the back where she could have quiet time). I’m so glad that Reedmor has joined our community!

This is one of the greatest bookstores I have been to and I have been to a bunch of bookstores. The owner is available and very down to earth. The history of the name Reedmor is inspiring. Enjoying the refreshments and the great vibes of the place. My most enjoyable store in the area. Would come back for happy hour. Thank you to Nissa, she was 1 of a kind.

I agree with people saying the space is cold, sterile, corporate-y, and not a good reading atmosphere. People want to hang out somewhere creative, artsy, thought-provoking, and a little rustic, if that makes sense? The current atmosphere is almost antithetical to real reading culture.

People generally won't go out in person, out of their way, to buy an overpriced, retail, brand new book. We have online shopping for that. It seems like this shop is basically set up for people to just come in, buy something, leave, which just isn't going to happen. You need another way to draw people in.

Imo, you want to be the book place that everyone thinks, I want to read or get some work done at a cool place where other people are doing the same thing--I need to go there! Currently, I never ever want to go in there whenever I walk by.

If I were running the business, I'd replace merchandise in the center of the room with more tables for sitting, even in the right-side room with the register. Add cool decor and make it less modern/bland/merchandise-y. Remove t-shirts on the wall with art. Turn it into more of a coffee shop. I'd also create more space by having the book check-out area at the bar. I think this would for sure draw in more people and they wouldn't be able to resist...

Reedmor Books & Brews is one of those rare gems that you stumble upon and immediately want to tell everyone about. Equal parts cozy bookstore and laid-back bar, it’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time, in the best way possible.

The beer selection is thoughtfully curated, with a mix of local brews and rotating taps that keep things interesting. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for something refreshing while you browse, there’s something here for you.

What really sets Reedmor apart, though, is the atmosphere. There’s a warm, welcoming energy from the moment you walk in. Shelves are stacked with an eclectic mix of titles, new releases, cult classics, indie picks, and little nooks invite you to sit, sip, and read for a while.

And then there’s the owner. Incredibly kind, genuinely passionate, and always ready with a great recommendation. It’s clear they’ve poured a lot of heart into this place, and it makes all the difference.

Whether you're stopping by for a quiet afternoon read, a casual drink with friends, or your next favorite novel, Reedmor Books & Brews is the...

Had a great experience to begin with. The drinks were good and the employees seemed friendly! We are big readers and visit as many local bookshops as we can; browsing, sampling books, and chatting with the employees. As we were closing out our visit, the bookshop cashier went up to my teenage sister and told her that if she wasn’t going to buy the book she was sampling that she needed to put it back. Keep in mind that one of us had already purchased a book and she was not doing any damage to the book she was reading. The comment from the cashier was out of place and out of pocket, i’ve just never experienced such a lack of customer service, especially in a local bookshop! My family loved the idea of this bookshop/bar, but due to this experience, we certainly will...
