I agree with people saying the space is cold, sterile, corporate-y, and not a good reading atmosphere. People want to hang out somewhere creative, artsy, thought-provoking, and a little rustic, if that makes sense? The current atmosphere is almost antithetical to real reading culture.
People generally won't go out in person, out of their way, to buy an overpriced, retail, brand new book. We have online shopping for that. It seems like this shop is basically set up for people to just come in, buy something, leave, which just isn't going to happen. You need another way to draw people in.
Imo, you want to be the book place that everyone thinks, I want to read or get some work done at a cool place where other people are doing the same thing--I need to go there! Currently, I never ever want to go in there whenever I walk by.
If I were running the business, I'd replace merchandise in the center of the room with more tables for sitting, even in the right-side room with the register. Add cool decor and make it less modern/bland/merchandise-y. Remove t-shirts on the wall with art. Turn it into more of a coffee shop. I'd also create more space by having the book check-out area at the bar. I think this would for sure draw in more people and they wouldn't be able to resist...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReedmor Books & Brews is one of those rare gems that you stumble upon and immediately want to tell everyone about. Equal parts cozy bookstore and laid-back bar, itās the kind of place where you can lose track of time, in the best way possible.
The beer selection is thoughtfully curated, with a mix of local brews and rotating taps that keep things interesting. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for something refreshing while you browse, thereās something here for you.
What really sets Reedmor apart, though, is the atmosphere. Thereās a warm, welcoming energy from the moment you walk in. Shelves are stacked with an eclectic mix of titles, new releases, cult classics, indie picks, and little nooks invite you to sit, sip, and read for a while.
And then thereās the owner. Incredibly kind, genuinely passionate, and always ready with a great recommendation. Itās clear theyāve poured a lot of heart into this place, and it makes all the difference.
Whether you're stopping by for a quiet afternoon read, a casual drink with friends, or your next favorite novel, Reedmor Books & Brews is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a great experience to begin with. The drinks were good and the employees seemed friendly! We are big readers and visit as many local bookshops as we can; browsing, sampling books, and chatting with the employees. As we were closing out our visit, the bookshop cashier went up to my teenage sister and told her that if she wasnāt going to buy the book she was sampling that she needed to put it back. Keep in mind that one of us had already purchased a book and she was not doing any damage to the book she was reading. The comment from the cashier was out of place and out of pocket, iāve just never experienced such a lack of customer service, especially in a local bookshop! My family loved the idea of this bookshop/bar, but due to this experience, we certainly will...
