Undoubtedly, the best cafe anywhere from Portland to Boston. As a former Great Bay local, I didn't realize how spoiled we were with our coffee shops. I assumed somewhere like Boston must have had plenty of cafes on par or at least close. But living here for awhile now, I can confidently say that I have yet to find any cafe anywhere that compares to Cafe Vonsolln.
Pastries are phenomenal, food (especially their folded egg vegetarian breakfast sandwich) is phenomenal. The coffee is so great whenever I return I pick up several bags. I recommend their Sumatra Mandheling, the smoothest and strongest dark roast. Very low acidity, which is great if you tend to brew with one too many beans per cup like I do.
The atmosphere cannot be beat. Tucked away in downtown Portsmouth's east side, you're a short walk from the memorial bridge, Prescott Park and Pierce Island, making for a great stroll to enjoy your to-go coffee. Inside, they play cozy music often consisting of classical and oldies that promote the atmosphere. I of course recommend being respectful and making room for more customers in the busy hours (or continuing to support them with another drink or pastry if you linger), but that being said it's a great place to cozy up with a good book or a...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is my favorite place in town to go to for its small, cozy, homey vibes and super friendly staff - Iโm hard of hearing and never felt treated differently in any way (which is often in other places) and are patient to repeat themselves.
Typically places will have either good food or good lattes but not typically both. Here does.
Has alternative milks and various delicious flavours to try in your drink, my favorite is the dark matter charcoal one which Iโve only had in Bali. They also have a variety of fresh food (I get the veggie panini often - yum) as well as pastries. Would love to see more vegan options/cheeses in the future.
Affordable and they offer loyalty reward cards too.
Outlets available at certain seatings but the customers there are typically also just as wonderful and will offer to share tables or exchange spots when this happens even when itโs busy.
Right in town but just a few steps out of the way of the more busy tourist areas yet still can get very busy of which Iโll bring my headphones.
Next to the press room for when you want to switch gears and...
