First I want to mention that I have always loved Zips ever since I first moved up here around 2006 so this review is a bit painful for me to write. I like to treat myself on Friday nights to some Fast Food that will actually make me feel full and the Zips in Coeur D Alene has been giving me a bit of trouble lately. Mainly the new middle aged woman they hired who acts like everything she has to do is a gigantic chore basically had a conniption in my face when she had to ring up my order again at the drive thru window several weeks ago. This left me completely shocked and I could also hear her complaining to her coworkers about the job also. After that I tried going to the Zips in Hayden and found that she was also working there also (In addition this Zips also got my order wrong on that occasion when I went to it, in a similar matter to what I will describe.) So because of all that I decided to come to this Zips in Post Falls. I ordered a Boss Burger very specifically asking for no Onions and no Tomatoes on it, along with a Tub of Fries and a large drink. What they gave me was a Zipper burger loaded down with a nauseatingly large amount of tomatoes and onions and a Wrangler and of course they didn't give me any Fries or Drink with the order. Suffice it to say I'm going to avoid Zips for awhile and stick to Paul Bunyans. I love Zips and the people are usually very friendly so I'm giving them three stars but it's all a bit too much for me...
Read moreListen, I'm a small business owner. I get it. There's inflation and tariffs raising prices... but then there's 2 Papa Joes for $12.75. That is absolutely asinine. It's literally almost double the price of going down the street to Roger's or Paul Bunyan.
As a North Idahoan, Zips has always been a staple for me -- I'd call it my favorite fast food burger. People not from here don't understand. But I simply will probably never go to any Zips location again 🤷♂️ I don't know if they're all priced like this (because they're independently-owned franchises), but the embarrassment of being like "You know what, nevermind, I'll go somewhere else" in a drive-thru is not something that I want to risk going through again. I never see people at Zips anymore, and I think I now know why.
At the risk of sounding like a Boomer, 2 Papa Joes used to be $5. It's basically the smallest burger on the menu. It IS the value burger. I expect to pay more at a small chain -- and Zips has always been the most expensive -- but holy crap that is next level.
Nothing against the staff or the food itself, but I don't think the best service and burger possible is worth paying what amounts to 6 and some change for a single (small) patty, a piece of deli ham, and...
Read moreI had the worst experience there. I have been eating Zips since the 80s. When I ordered my food, she asked me what size fries I wanted again. Which I repeated that I wanted a tub of criss cuts. When I finished ordering, she read it back to me as a tub of fries, and I corrected her and said a tub of criss cuts. She said that's what she had. When I went to pay, she repeated the order with our 2 sandwiches and a tub of fries. I did not correct her again. When we got our order, it was a tub of fries. I gave it back and said I ordered a tub of criss cuts. A guy then came to the window and said there would be difference in price. I said I would not pay the difference because I told her twice. Then complained that our sandwiches were going to get cold now. He made some criss cuts while we waited. We got home, and they over seasoned the criss cuts. The worst ones I have ever tasted!. We could not eat them. They were sooo salty. I opened my sandwich up and there was a hair in the mayo. I was thoroughly disgusted and could not eat the sandwich. I called the store. No one answered, and it went to voice-mail. The mailbox was full. I called back several times, and still no one answered. I will never go to this Zips again....
