Papa Duke's Deli & Grill — Restaurant in Poway

I've been looking for a good deli in Poway for about 2 years now. Found Papa Dukes on a Google search. Its kind of tucked away in the industrial section of Poway, near a lot of office complexes. I ordered a Reuben and OMG it was delicious. Perfect flavors. Some delis make them and one or more ingredients overpower the others. This was a perfect blend of all. They not only make sandwiches, but they also make pizza and burgers. I haven't tried the burger but the owner said that don't freeze them and are hand pressed. He also brought my wife and I complimentary 2 slices of their cheese pizza. Thin and crispy without being burnt. You could hold out the slice and it would stay flat. PERFECTION. And the flavor of just a regular slice of cheese pizza was fantastic. You could taste the cheese, taste the sauce, and feel the crunch and flavor of the crust. Phenomenal. I've known about this place for awhile, finally stopped in for a bite with my family. Seating inside and outside (some umbrellas). Wonderful, cordial people working behind the counter, one being PaPa Duke himself (he was so happy, smily and friendly). The staff and Papa Duke checked on us a number of times to see if we needed anything and to update us on the status of our pizza while we ate our sandwiches I had a turkey club (liked the bacon) Chicken parmasean hero ( could use a bit more sauce), Nick's diva chicken (aioli was delicious, avocado was super fresh), chicken portifino (panini), Philly cheese steak (needed a cheese dip). We shared a margherita pizza ( liked the crust, tasted like tomatoes and basil were picked from the garden this morning). Ended with cannoli's ( not overpowering with sweetness). Food: The meats and cheeses are all Boar's Head, so it's good quality. Good variety of items on their menu (wraps, sandwiches, burgers, much more), and the prices are good. They run daily specials and have an email listing you can sign up for. Beverages: several coolers of sodas, energy drinks, teas, sports drinks, etc. There's fountain drinks too.

Service: Always great and out quick. I go here a lot and have never had any complaints. Delivery available for places nearby.

Misc / Notes: Indoor & outdoor seating. Good atmosphere, it has that mom & pop feel. Great lunch spot for employees on the industrial parkway, and worth the drive from Poway Road if you're coming from that direction. It's easy to pass up. Right across the street from Sysco and next door to the...
