So my date and I live here in Powdersville but we usually travel on weekends to various places just to try lesser known places for dining experience. I've never had sushi so after debate we settled on Dozo.
1st. May I suggest training your staff to not stand and look at guest who walk in. After a stare down I asked do we seat ourselves, one of the 5 waitresses responded yes.
2nd. We were looking for the hibachi grill after seating ourselves. A party of 5 walks in, looks around and ask is there a hibachi grill. That is a big attraction I'd imagine so it might be a good idea to have staff offer hibachi because you certainly can't see the hibachi dining area due to its location, nearly hidden. After the party of 5 is directed to the hibachi, we then made it known we'd like hibachi as well and the response was "let me see if they can fit you in".... it's just me and her plus those 5, that's 7, how is that a issue.
3rd. I'm pretty sure no one under 21 is allowed to serve alcohol, she looked 12. But let's say she was 21, when questions are asked about YOUR wine selections available, not having someone able to give a educated opinion on taste etc isn't a good idea especially when it's lesser known selections.
4th. There's a party of 5, me and date and a party of 4 to my right that joined at the grill... that's 11 people. Before the chef come out to cook, let me say THE CHEF HIMSELF WAS GREAT, but it took him 30 minutes after we were seated to come out, by then I've chugged 3 beers and contemplating leaving.... I had the Emperial hibachi which consist of steak chicken n shrimp, date had the steak n shrimp.. again there's 11 people seated.... if you have 11 people from 3 parties asking is that enough meat to split between 11 adults people, might be a good idea to pause and consider your portions. I myself like everyone seated had a Himalayan size of rice, I found myself with 3 shrimp, 6 and 4 cubes of steak n chicken. My date had a gargantuan portion of rice with 4 shrimp and 4 cubes of filet mignon steak. So I'm staring a $80 bill in the face but I can only think to myself do I think that's fair... no, no I don't, I felt robbed.
Lastly, I did order sushi, first time having it and I liked it. It was the Bahama roll I think. However I don't know what good and bad sushi taste like, but I did like it so there's that.
I'll go back because they have...
Read moreThis place needs a good top-to-bottom cleaning. Came here for a family event at one of the Hibachi grill tables. These tables are in a dimly-lit 'back room' that you enter by pushing aside a cloth divider that hangs from the top of the door - the cloth is deeply stained from all the hands and hair that have rubbed across it for who-knows how long before it dragged across your head and neck. Once in the room, it's dark. The floor is slippery, with an oozy feeling of years of grease droplets that have fallen on it. In my minds eye, I picture a mop with water that just smears the filth around, but never CLEANS it. I'd dropped a paper napkin and slid it over with my foot to pick it up and was sorry I looked at it. The room has an odor of a sink disposal that has an un-rinsed accumulation aging in it - either that or it's the mercaptan stink from a gas leak. Sitting at the table, I could see streaky film and residue from previous diners - and we were the first ones there that evening.
If you have a blind-spot for FILTH, then this may be the place for you. But I'm thinking - if this is what they show to customers, how terrible is the kitchen. If not for being a guest at a family gathering,...
Read moreSo here is the deal. Place is pricey, now normally that won't bother me if the food is good. So here is what happened. First time I take time look over the menu no problem, any time it takes me to order is on me, so after my friend and I decided on food. Which both got shrimp and she got scallops and I got filet mignon, cause you know if your going to spend the money get the best...I am right. So, put order in said about 15-20 mins turn into almost an hour. Made no sense...their only like four people a head of us. So, any get the food. Which came with a small lettuce salad and a beef broth soup. Both were okay, the ginger dressing was awesome by the way. The shrimp for both meals were totally frozen bag shrimp. Not tasty at all. My steak was good. And the rice and veggies were par. So after a $45 dinner I would have to say the meal only taste like it was worth maybe $15. I may try it again when the restaurant opens for dine in again. But, if you want a high cost meal go somewhere else you will get...
